I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone in the area. The rooms are clean, and each room has a theme. The hosts are friendly and knowledgeable about the area if you need ideas for things to do. The breakfast when we were there was different hot and cold beverages, a variety of baked goods, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and fruit. There are two large common areas for guests that include books, couches, a massage chair, and tables. There is also free laundry!

My husband and I were travelling from fort Wayne Indiana on our first trip to Alaska. After spending 3 days in Anchorage we headed to our next stop to Valdez. If you are wondering if there is any other place as beautiful and serene as Valdez then you are mistaken.The scenic route to Valdez is breathtaking. Now let me tell you about the most adorable, comfortable and one of the most immaculate place called house on the rock where we spent 3 nights during our stay in Valdez. Our host family was amazing. They were warm professional and extremely nice. Trust me when I say nice I mean it since it is very hard to impress me. Daily breakfast was simple but fresh rooms were extremely clean with fresh linen. For someone like me who is a clean freak I was truly impressed. Our heartfelt thanks to Bill and his lovely wife for making our trip so memorable and comfortable. You have an amazing family and it was so nice to spend 3 days in your home. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking to get a feeling if home away from home. With heavy hearts we concluded our trip to Alaska and headed back home today but I will always remember our stay at the house on the rock as one of the best places I have stayed. I wish I could say I will be back soon but maybe I will be back to visit Valdez in January some year in future and experience your kind hospitality again. We stayed at the House on the Rock B&B for two nights during our first visit to Valdez in May 2024. The host, Lisa, greeted us upon arrival in a way that was friendly and professional. There are four rooms for visitors on the first floor, each decorated and named on an animal theme. The rooms are grouped around a common kitchen and dining area. Lisa lives on the second floor. Each of the four guest bedrooms has it's own small bathroom. Furnishings in the bedrooms were better than a typical motel room, with a more homey feel. Our bathroom in the Bear Room was very clean, with plenty of hot water, but the shower was small and tight. The kitchen was well stocked with breakfast food options, dishes, utensils, and appliances for guests to use in preparing a morning meal. The accommodations were clean, decorated in a homey way, and comfortable. The books on the shelf in the dining area were interesting to browse, providing some insight to the history of the area. Lisa also keeps a stock of tourist brochures and maps that can be useful. Each guest is responsible for washing their own dishes and cleaning up the common area. There is a laundry room next to the kitchen and Lisa gave us permission to use the washer and dryer - no extra charge. The house is located in a residential neighborhood, making for a more quiet environment. It is a moderately long walk to the marina and commercial area, but we had a car so that didn't matter. There is adequate room in front of the house for cars to park. There were two others guests staying at the house at the same time as us. They were quiet, respectful, and friendly so we didn't have any trouble getting a good rest each night and we enjoyed visiting with them during the breakfast time. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay at the House on the Rock.

I am in love with this Bed and Breakfast! We stayed here during the Valdez Ice Festival. The owners are extremely friendly. The breakfast was delicious with a mix of fresh fruit, oatmeal, cereal, bagels, and muffins. The showers were hot, the bed was very comfy, the decor was adorable, and the location was perfect! The rooms are clean. The common area has board games, cards, books, and movies. The massage chair was the perfect treat after a day of ice climbing. The owners are very knowledgeable sharing advice about the local area. Any time I come back to Valdez, I will definitely stay again! 100% recommend over any other lodging in Valdez.

This is a very clean property not far from the harbor in Valdez. Plenty of free parking. The rooms are nice sized and well-appointed. The hosts are great and very accommodating. The continental breakfast was great with many options.||||The property has a washer and dryer, free to use. Lots of books to read. They have a unique massage chair that we enjoyed using. They have a nice kitchen which we used to makesome of our dinners. We enjoyed meeting the other guests staying there.||||You have to remove your shoes upon entering the building. It's a bit inconvenient, but we appreciate that it helped to keep the place cleaner.||||Overall, we recommend this B&B and would stay there again.

Conveniently located, very clean and comfortable. Room had a Queen bed as well as a twin. Extra blankets available.
Bathroom was well supplied and very clean.
Breakfast/kitchen area were very nice. Breakfast had many offerings - bagels, muffins, bread, frozen waffles, boiled eggs, juice, milk, and more.
We were able to store our perishables in the fridge which was great.
Laundry area was convenient and easy to use.
Hosts were readily available and very, very helpful. Family were delightful.
We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again! Everything was very well maintained.

Rooms were uniquely decorated to match the theme (Bear, Eagle, Moose, etc.)...very nice to have a private bath in each room....Lorna (the host) was super helpful with advice for things to do during our stay...the food options available for self-serve breakfast were very good. Great value with a friendly & hospitable family. We appreciated the well thought out layout of the living quarters which made our time there very comfortable & relaxing. Everything we could possibly need was available including laundry, tea & coffee whenever we wanted it, a good breakfast selection. I highly recommend this area for those who really want to take in the beauty of Valdez.”
