We recently hosted a celebration of life event at Christina’s charming bed and breakfast including on-site catering. It was truly a wonderful experience. The accommodations were cozy and comfortable, providing a welcoming atmosphere for our family to relax and reminisce. The catering service was exceptional, with a delicious sit down dinner in the barn that had everyone raving about how good it was. The beautiful farm setting added to the overall ambiance of the event, with the fall harvest decorations and sunset view creating a peaceful backdrop for our stay and celebration dinner. The personalized attention to detail and thoughtful touches throughout the event made it a special and memorable occasion for all in attendance.

Just finished our 2nd stay with House in the Country. Very friendly owners. Home is very clean. She has thought of everything you might need and forgot to bring. You can have alone time or visit with them in the common areas. The breakfast is awesome. Very accommodating to your likes and dislikes. We will be back for visit #3.

This review and the others on Google can’t do House in the Country - and hosts Christina and John - justice. My wife and I had a wonderful stay while on a long road trip, and it was truly a highlight. The accommodation was comfortable, the property immaculately maintained, and Christina had thought of everything, including phone chargers, spare toiletries and charming country decor. Christina is an outstanding cook, and made us a delicious breakfast spread. We enjoyed interesting chats and John gave us some great recommendations for towns and cities to see in the area. Thank you Christina and John for a lovely stay. For any travellers looking for accommodation in the Sterling area, House in the Country is perfect!

Christina’s serenely elegant “House in the Country” was recommended to us for an enchanting overnight stay on the occasion of an extended-family reunion earlier this month, and both the home and the hostess (as well as her husband) exceeded our expectations. The home exudes a warmly welcoming environment, a nostalgic throwback to a gentler time way in the past, with multiple nicely-appointed and impeccably maintained sleeping, bathing and dining facilities that provided up-to-date accommodations. All of that “cake” was “iced” wonderfully with Christina’s excellent cooking, all capped off with their quietly staying in the background so that the home felts like our own instead of a B&B. Would recommend “House in the Country” unreservedly!

This lovely home is location in the most perfect spot. Close to town yet far out enough for the quietness of the country. Everything couldn't have been more perfect from the lovely estate to the gardens. Owner is more than helpful and accommodating. It was hard to leave to go back to home as it already felt like we were at home. Thank you for everything!

Love this B and B located outside Sterling in the quiet countryside. Host is friendly and a fantastic chef. Breakfasts are a wonderful experience with fresh fruits and pastries as well as egg dishes and breakfast meats. House is filled with antiques and historical photos. There's a lawn chessboard with child size pieces. There are also out buildings available as event venue for reunions and weddings with plenty of parking. We've stayed there twice and will definitely stay there again when visiting the ares. If you're lookiing for IKEA this isn't your place but if you want a peaceful, unrushed experience this is your place. There is Wifi, air conditioning and a great rain shower.

My sister and I had a little trip planned to Tampico and Dixon, and I was so pleased to find this beautifully appointed B&B to stay! The room was nice, breakfast was essentially made to order for us the first morning, but we didn't make it to our first destination, as we had a serious car accident! Christina came to see us in the ER, and then came back to take my sister back to their home (as I stayed over night at the hospital). Christina and John were compassionate, kind, and helpful (especially to my sister), and I am so grateful for that. Although the trip wasn't as I had hoped, it did renew my faith in the goodness of people.

Want to avoid the usual cookie cutter hotel experience? Try this completely renovated early-20th-century farmhouse B&B. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and easy to be around - or to not be around, if you preferred. We enjoyed using the common rooms, eating out on the back deck, wandering around the various outbuildings, and playing cards in the dining room. Our bedroom (2nd floor) was roomy and comfortable, and the bathroom had everything we needed.
