Room neeeded a lot of maintenance! Very large crack in the shower surround, base of shower felt very weak and creaked. Also had a deep hole in the wall just outside the shower. Room had a very perfumed smell as if trying to cover up a bad smell. Bed and pillows were flat and uncomfortable. We did find out why and they told us the issue has been resolved. Hotel is not up to the standards of a Holiday Inn property.

The staff was excellent at every turn! From check in, brkfst staff to the manager understanding the issue with the room.

Horrible horrible experience here, not only myself but for our entire softball team who stayed here for a weekend tournament.
Week started off horrible before even arriving which was huge clue that the weekend could only be worse.
Staff except for one lady was horrible, rude on phone calls, hung up on me multiple times, one of the conversations the man on the phone once I stated my name after being hung up on 2x said and I quote “oh my God”
Arrived to a hotel room that was semi clean until we went into that bathroom that had hair plastered all over the shower wall everywhere. So was it clean? Doubtful.
Many towels that had a yellow hard substance on them. And socks were black after walking on floor.
The man that works the front desk was never there. Half the time in the back room, other half outside in his car, cops ended up being called by someone and they even stated this wasn’t the first time this had happened.
Pool was told doesn’t work but was full and circulating, but then charge us 225 a night for what?
This is just part of what occurred.
Highly would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

I'm a 43-year-old man who, to the best of my knowledge, has never written a review for anything in my life. That said, after my experience and the experiences of the rest of my traveling party (girls travel softball team) this past weekend, I decided that today is the day. No one, let me repeat, NO ONE, should ever stay at this place. At the surface, this is just like any other Holiday Inn Express or similar hotel. The lobby and guest rooms have the standard look, beds are comfortable, and the place appears to be clean but that’s pretty much where the good feedback ends. Let me explain…||First, the pool. Two years ago, the same traveling party stayed at this same hotel. Upon check-in we were informed that the pool was, unfortunately, out of order due to maintenance. For most groups this wouldn't be a big deal, for a softball team, it’s a big inconvenience but we're a generally understanding group and know that everyone deserves a little bit of grace. Pools, like anything else, need maintained, we just picked a bad weekend. It just would have been nice if the hotel had communicated that to us before check-in. Fast forward two years, same group, same hotel, same situation with the pool. Closed due to maintenance, no communication about that until the time of check-in, well past the grace period for a cancellation/refund.||The bookkeeping, management and reservation system at this place are completely disorganized. Upon check-in, over half of our party were told that their reservations did not exist, a few were told that the hotel was full and couldn't accommodate them. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, in hindsight, the hotel "found" rooms to accommodate even those who they had previously told that there was no occupancy. This was fairly contentious at times and definitely stressful for a number of our families. Note that, as we're traveling as a team, we did not book our reservations directly through the hotel but through a third party called Traveling Teams. The hotel claimed that there was an issue with communication on Traveling Teams' end. I find that hard to believe given that they did have half of our reservations but maybe that was a factor, if so, shame on them too.||One night, during our stay, the local police showed up in the lobby. Apparently, a guest from outside our party had arrived to check-in and found no attendant at the desk so they called the authorities. The attendant was not even on the property and the police indicated this wasn't the first time this had happened with this particular attendant. When the front desk attendant actually managed to be at their post, they issued key cards to a child without their parent's permission. This occurred when parents told the child to stay out of the room during naptime for their siblings. Before you get judgy here, yes, there is a discipline aspect with the children and, yes, the children were held accountable. That said, key cards to guestrooms shouldn't be issued without confirmation by an adult registered to the room. What would stop anybody from successfully requesting a key card and accessing someone else's guestroom.||While the hotel appears clean and well-kept, issues with general hotel maintenance kept popping up. It rained nearly all day one day during our stay. It seems like half the windows in this place leak. Water was leaking into the lobby through one of the lobby windows, down the hall, more water was leaking in through the windows outside the lobby restrooms (which were another issue; the entire time we stayed there the men's room had no soap or paper towels). Upon returning to our guestrooms, water was leaking in through the guestroom windows of over half our party. Clothes that were left near the windows of these rooms were soaked. Additionally, one of the families in our party dealt with ants in their guestroom and the toilet seat in our room was cracked. Maybe they should close the hotel for maintenance instead of just the pool. Not a chance when the reservation agency for the sports complex across the road is funneling suckers like me, who are paying over $200+ per night to deal with nonsense like this, to the hotel by the dozen.||To finish off our death by 1,000 papercuts, after checking out and returning home, we found that we'd been overcharged an extra night. Upon finding this, we alerted others in our party and heard that at least two other families in our party were also similarly overcharged. After calling the hotel and speaking to Bre, who was very professional and helpful, our overcharge was identified and corrected. Thank you, Bre, for a pleasant interaction at the end of an otherwise regrettable experience.

Staff was very friendly and laid back. This place would be great for sporting events. Night shift was very laid back you could hang in the lobby only saw him leave his chair to get up to smoke. If you don't mind the smell of mildew on 1/2 of the 2nd floor and wallpaper peeling. Cleaning is lacking stained sheets floors were barely vacummed. Tape all over the wall and picture frame from previous guest hanging decorations. Ants everywhere in breakfast area. I thought the older lady on Saturday loved cleaning the counters nooooo just keeping the ants out of sight. There was a different lady on Sunday who didn't wipe counters till something was said about the ants. Breakfast was the same exact thing it was Saturday which leaves me to believe the biscuits and gravy was just reheated. If your looking for a place to lay your head and enjoy team bonding this is your place. Also it's the best hotel in the area and that doesn't say much. The location will keep this place open. Pool was closed but according to other reviews it has been for awhile not just the dates listed on the website. They just need to clean!!!

The staff at HI Rantoul was great from the maintenance man, Jerry to the front desk lady, the breakfast bar attendant and our room attendant. My issues were in the room(316). The blackout shade was off the track and was not able to open or close. Jerry came to look at it and he was able to get it back in the track but discovered the chain to raise and lower was gone. Also, the shade itself has numerous holes in it, kinda tacky looking. On the hallway room door the secondary lock, the one were you move a bar that goes over a little ball, the piece that screws into the door all the screws were loose, like someone pulled it out. The pool was unavailable our whole stay. Once again the staff was wonderful.

At first, the stay was acceptable - even with the hall door access not working, the waffle machine broken, and the hallway smelling like moldy water. The staff was pleasant and the breakfast was decent.
However, i am being charged $250 for smoking in my room, when I do not smoke or vape. Hotel staff states they have picture proof, but refuses to share this fake proof. I did drop my room keys in the box on the front desk since there was not anyone at the desk when I checked out at 10:30AM instead of checking out with an actual person.

Do not book with this location. After multiple emails back and forth, I was only reminded of their smoking policy, after telling them multiple times that I did not smoke in their room.

They stated they tried to call me before issuing the charge, but my number did not go through... but it is correct on my reservation. They are liars and thieves.

This hotel was not the cleanest of hotels that we've stayed in. Upon checking in, we discovered feces on the toilet in our room. They changed our room of course. But it was to a much smaller room. I would think for our trouble that they would give us better accommodations. Of all the Holiday Inns we've stayed at this was close to the bottom. Breakfast was pretty good. But the room overall, was very dirty with stains on the curtains and in the bathrooms. We would probably avoid this particular hotel in the future.

We walked into our room to find a dirty floor. A red fake fingernail on the carpet. 🤢 Everything looked as if it needed a deep clean as well as a surface clean.

Guests were smoking weed on our floor. Odor throughout the whole hall.

The pool was disgusting. I wish I wouldn’t have looked past it. Everyone in our family that touched the hot tub ended up with Pseudomonas Folliculitis. Happy to share photos.

The drinking fountains were more rust than metal. The wall paper just outside the pool was peeling away to give a glimpse of mold growing underneath.

I could keep going but it is nothing positive so I will stop here. I’m very disappointed and will be avoiding Holiday Inns for quite some time.
