I had a fantastic stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Rochelle! The staff was incredibly welcoming and made check-in a breeze. My room was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything I needed. The beds were cozy, and I got a great night’s sleep. The complimentary breakfast was fresh and had plenty of options. The hotel is conveniently located and well-maintained, making it a perfect stop for travelers. I’ll definitely be staying here again! Highly recommend!

I’m not going to say Karen was the greatest hotel chef … but I have yet to meet better. I arrived for breakfast at 929am (1 minute before it was set to close) and she not only assisted in showing me how the pancake machine worked for two fresh flapjacks but then provided me with two trays to take my food upstairs - BUT WAIT THERES MORE - and then she carried one of the trays upstairs to insure it wouldn’t spill. Karen was so compassionate and patient. And did I mention the breakfast was delicious?!

This was our first trip with our puppy. We were very comfortable and hotel staff was very accommodating. It was easy to get our puppy in and out of the building, even when we had no power in that section of town. The extra charge to travel with our puppy was reasonable and quite a bit less than other pet -friendly hotels we considered.

Until now.

The pool, exercise room and 1/2 of the breakfast area is closed (March 17, 2025) yet the rate is 30% higher than 9 months ago. The HI site from the HI app quoted me a rate (which I paid) which was $40 higher than the Travelocity quoted rate.

The best thing of the property is the woman hosting the breakfast. This is one of the only HI Express properties where the pancake machine works. Breakfast host is friendly, efficient and represents the property quite well.

Not so at the front desk. Front desk staff seem to turn over often. They are always undertrained, undersupported and understaffed. The check in process (remember we reserved via the app) took almost 20 minutes because the rep was on a phone call in one ear while an ear bud was in the other.

This property is not well run and their front desk staff (I’ve dealt with many here as the new staff joins this circus) are placed in a losing situation because of poor training and no supervision.

I will not stay here again.

Room was clean and had everything I needed. Quiet area and hotel management recognizes that a lot of people travel for work and need hours where you don't hear any noise in the halls.|Best part was breakfast though. The ladies that take care of breakfast are amazing and incredibly kind. Will not hesitate to take the time to talk to guests and make their experience as enjoyable as possible

Stopped in Rochelle at the HIE and found it to be very well managed, good people, quiet and clean. Our room was on the first floor (119) and we faced a farm field and farm and the city in the distance, oddly comforting to see the empty farm field. Also that side of the hotel was quiet as no road noise there. This property was clean, and convenient and efficient...I think its not that new, but the management keeps it in great shape and clean. About the only flaw I saw was the bottom right of the sliding window in our room had a crack that let some cold air in (it was a windy cold day) so I put some tissue paper in the small hole. A little bit of caulk would fix the problem. Otherwise everything was in good order, I would recommend this property to anyone.

Our experience at the Holiday Inn Express in Rochelle was very pleasant. The room was clean with modern decor. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was great. The breakfast bar had a wonderful selection of tasty food and was very well maintained by Karen. Thank you for a great stay.

The HI Express just east of Rochelle is a decent hotel. The Queen suites are especially roomy and accommodate TV viewing nicely. I enjoyed my two night stay but I did have an issue with the refrigerator, whose temperature could not be controlled intended to freeze most of the contents. I did not find this out until after the first night so there really was no point in trying to correct it at that time.
