We arrived in time for the New Years Day luncheon, which was delicious! We and another couple booked a couple of rooms for the night. The rooms are lovely and the breakfast the next morning was fantastic, as well as the sweet lady that prepared it for us! It was so interesting talking with her about the 200 year old hotel! We learned a lot of interesting facts! We plan to do this again!

I absolutely LOVE the Historic Rose Hotel! The new management has done a phenomenal job with the place. Very clean, hospitable staff, amazing complimentary breakfast, and stunning decor. The best part though is the beautiful view of the Ohio River right outside your door! It’s the perfect place for a weekend getaway.

I don’t even know where to begin! This beautiful piece of Illinois history has been recaptured by the new management and as you walk throughout the hotel make sure to pay attention to each detail of the original family especially in the lobby. As you enjoy the river front on the gazebo, look up the crazy flood that happened back in the 1800s. Each room is special as they have taken the time to capture each original family member that once lived in that very room! As you stay in the peaceful town of Elizabethtown, there is a cute ice cream shoppe that has a little bit of everything! Tell all your friends & family!! The hotel is very clean and you can tell they pay attention to detail.
Will definitely be making my way back for a peaceful getaway.

We trusted PATTY to give us the necessary information to access our rooms. Instead we got a 30 second phone call where we were rushed off with four numbers rattled to us. We are able to get into the room, which is okay. We leave all of our belongings and take just what we need for our hiking. We return at 8pm to find that we are locked out of our room. Even after confirming the number with airbnb servicing it would not allow access to the room, in which were extremely essential medications. We messaged PATTY. Nothing. We call PATTY no less than 65 times between us, airbnb support, and the Sheriff's office, after I called 911 because the sun had set and we had been stranded for 3 hours with newly purchased food now ruined, an abrasion I couldn't treat due to the first aid kit locked behind the door. Airbnb support said all they could do was let us stay somewhere else and they will compensate. The cops are unable to get into the door due to it being a historic building. After returning the next day, we received a message from her with the code (different then what we had and airbnb had) and an acknowledgement that she had "received our messages" but was apparently at church for at least 4 hours, past midnight, when we and the sheriff were calling. I knocked on the door to the lobby (which we were also locked out of) and she answered. I told her we weren't staying for her breakfast, to which she retorted "oh I KNOW" and I continued with "we are still very angry about being stranded for hours" and at this point she repeatedly interrupted me with "DID YOU GET INTO YOUR ROOM TO PUT THE STUFF DOWN. DID YOU GET INTO YOUR ROOM." She followed this up with the accusation "YOU FORGOT THE CODE. THAT'S NOT MY FAULT," to which I responded "Show me right now where we received a PHYSICAL (or electronic) message with our code - and what of the 65 calls through midnight from us, air airbnb, and the sheriff?"||And I kid you not; This woman slammed the door in my face, almost breaking my nose.||Do NOT RENT WITH PATTY. SHE WILL NEGLECT YOU AND SHE WILL THREATEN YOU. I have a police report to verify every detail of this report, for any of you suspecting the validity of my testament.||I would have loved to stay in this scenic, historic hotel.||But don't do it. It's not worth the risk.

I was on my way to Garden of the gods. I had been wanting to go there for about twenty six years. I'm disabled and couldn't go on any further without stopping. I booked two nights at Historic Rose but decided to stay a whole week. Sitting on the veranda with the wind blowing off the river. You feel swept back in time. Decided to skip the rocks and go for the history of the town. Miss Patty is very gracious.
