Place is awesome. We went during the off season expecting nice weather, but it snowed and got cold on our way there. We still had a blast. My youngest daughter enjoyed the whirlpool and I got the stress free weekend I was looking for. George was super helpful and willing to help with any issues. We will be back.

We found the Hickory Hideaway at the last minute. We were so fortunate they had a 3 day availability in a luxury cabin. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The cabin, itself, was amazing. The bed was so comfortable and the whirlpool tub was incredible. We found the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. We spent our days touring the surrounding area as well as some of Iowa and Wisconsin. We enjoyed some of the restaurants suggested by the owners and back to relax in our wonderful cabin. We enjoyed lovely conversation with the owners as well as other guests. We certainly recommend the Hickory Hideaway in Shannon, IL. We will definately be back!

Loved our weekend at Hickory Hideaway! The Luxury whirlpool cabins are small but super cute and cozy. Booking and contact-free check-in were smooth. The cabin is well equipped for relaxing with drinks in bed or the hot tub. You wouldn't be able to do any actual cooking (we took a griddle for pancakes) but we knew that going in. Loved the little bar, and made use of all the wine & champagne glasses. There were a couple small things that could have been better - whoever cleaned had forgotten to empty the coffee filter, and a few of the blinds were broken (didn't stay up), but overall everything was clean and in good order. The electric (?) Fireplace gives a good cozy rustic feel without any of the work, and warms up the place really fast. The king bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Perfect for a 2 night, low key romantic getaway!

This was our second trip to Hickory Hideaway cabins and nothing had changed. The luxury cabins are beautifully decorated, clean and cozy. The owners, George and Sherry, are very personable, friendly and kind. Everything worked to perfection. They have a lot of little extras in the cabins like wine glasses and corkscrew, plates, silverware and glasses, but no blowdryer so there you will have to bring your own. We loved the fireplace and jacuzzi too!They even have a huge stock of movies to borrow in the office. We love this place and will be back in the future!

I planned a family reunion at Hickory Hideaway and it couldn't have been more perfect. The cabins were clean and comfy, the grounds were well kept and shaded. The temperatures were in the 90's but with all the trees there was a great breeze and we were able to spend all our time outdoors. George and Sherry are an amazing host and hostess. We never ran out of anything and they always seemed to be their when we had a question.
There are a few minor details I would recommend changing. The steps into the cabins are a bit high. There isn't much light in and around the pavilion. We actually took a lamp out from one of the cabins. And a pool would be a great addition to your already wonderful accommodations.
The icing on our cake was, as we were all pulling out, George and Sherry came out and said goodbye and thanked us for coming.
Now you don't get that at a chain.

We stayed here over Mother's Day weekend for a little getaway. Absolutely loved everything about it from reservation to check out. George and Sherry have created wonderful experience. The luxury cabin was clean, comfortable and had everything you could think of. It was perfectly located with short drives to Savanna, Galena and Monroe. We will highly recommend it to anyone and can't wait to get back.

Fantastic getaway! My boyfriend and I were looking for a relaxing weekend away from the city and we got exactly that. The rustic whirlpool cabin was much bigger than anticipated and very charming. It offered a cozy fireplace, relaxing whirlpool tub & a great view of the rolling hills. George was very helpful and gave us a ton of recommendations for things to do. They also have a wonderful collection of VHS tapes and DVDs for guests to borrow while visiting, which we loved. We went during a cold/rainy weekend and it was still very enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

I must also add, in regards to the negative comment below, the hosts were incredibly friendly, accommodating and were always quick to answer my questions/concerns before visiting. Also, one of our friendly neighbors for the weekend was a dog (or a rather large puppy). It's a shame one would be quick to judge such a great place before giving it a try.

I have stayed here twice with my husband and plan to go back as often as I can. They have personal little cabins to stay in, beautiful and rustic. Perfect for an intimate getaway. There's a lake 30min down the road in Lena we go to during the day perfect to take our kayaks out on then come back to the cabin and enjoy a nice walk around the property. Beautiful field filled with butterfly's. They have a very nice area in the center of the property with beautiful wood swings and a fire pit to enjoy a relaxing fire under the stars. The owners are amazing, very friendly and are just a call away for any needs or questiond youay have. Definitely a five star experience!
