Hotel was lovely, definitely not a cookie cutter chain. Very welcoming lobby area where they serve a great light breakfast with coffee, pastries, overnight oats with berries, yogurt with berries, cereals, several types of fruit, coffee, juice & several other accompaniments. Their croissants with gourmet preserves were outstanding!!
Chatting with the breakfast staff was the highlight of the start to our day, thank you ladies!
Our only complaint with the hotel portion was the lack of soundproofing overnight in our room but being an older property with unique features plus the in room fireplace, balcony & large whirlpool tub made up for it! Just be aware if you have a light sleeper, I would rate a 4.5 if that was available.
My husband & I took this trip as a mini couples get away so we booked 3 spa services for each of us. We started with 90 min massages with scalp enhancement, both of us were extremely pleased & would highly recommend Kassie & Matthew! Again, not a chain style, both therapists really listened to our preferences & tailored the service to suit us. We both did the radiant head to toe body treatment with Gillian, we both couldn’t recommend her any higher….10/10! I have some medical & claustrophobia issues but Gillian didn’t miss a beat when I asked for special modifications so I could fully relax & enjoy! We had a minor scheduling/miscommunication issue for our last service & ended up being taken care of by the evening spa coordinator & the spa manager, Bree. Both were kind & helpful as we sorted through the situation, they both made sure we left happy & wanting to return soon!
The grounds and surrounding small town feel really set the mood to decompress & reconnect as a couple. We truly enjoyed every minute in Geneva….we had amazing 50 degree temps in January!

Room is cozy and views are great. Staff was pleasant and accommodative. Bed was comfortable. We brought our lab and it was easy for him because there is a back elevator which makes egress relatively easy. We definitely will be coming back in the near future

We stayed here about 4 months ago and again today, I feel since then things have made a downgrade. The rooms are very dark, poor lighting in the bathroom, the sink didn’t drain, the toilet would barely flush paper.I felt like I was smelling gas throughout the night while I was sleeping from the fireplace, even thought I didn’t have it on, to the point that I opened the French door to get some fresh air. It is still winter but I was a bit nervous of the gas smell. The breakfast buffet has been downgraded to the point of not even offering water or juice. It actually made me feel as though they might be going under. It’s a shame because it was such a delightful place to stay when we are in the area.

I photographed a wedding here at Herrington in the fall & it was lovely! The photos turned out so beautifully, the staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. The whole day was well organized and ran smoothly. I'd absolutely recommend this venue if you're considering it for your wedding!

Wonderful location on the water and beautiful lobby with easy parking and friendly staff with complimentary breakfast and if you want more the Atwater restaurant is here as well. In room fireplace and jacuzzi tub and lathe separate shower great amenities. Jim the bellman was excellent and very helpful with information and recommendations. He has great customer service skills. Well done Herrington Inn.

Excellent service and great rooms. Enjoyed everything about our visit. Th. e bar was cozy and the restaurant excellent for dinner. .The room featured a canopy bed! We also had a balcony overlooking the Fox River. Parking may be an issue if there is a function

The room was fantastic but the spa was outdated and the customer service throughout our trip was lacking. I remember such great hospitality here from long ago but my experience was very different this time.

This place has gone far downhill and it’s clear the staff is exhausted or really just don’t care about taking care of guests. If you reach other reviews (on multiple site) like I wish I had you’ll see that this place has gone way downhill and needs an upgrade in accommodations and service both for the hotel and the spa.
