Beautiful place to lay your head. Parking is a bit tight, but every inch of this place is beautiful and homey. We decided to use the style and comfort of this place to model our own house after it.

The short of it: I gave this place 4 stars because I did genuinely like it. It deserves a solid 3. It needs a lot of work, but has much to offer as well.

The staff (Charley especially) were great and cooked nice breakfast each morning. It would be nice to be able to either have a little more choice or input (no bacon for me, thanks) into the options. There is much about the place that is in serious need of repair; at times the hot water was barely warm, the shower in a claw-foot tub needs to go, the hvac in our room constantly put out cool air (we finally just used the electric heater in the room), the copper pipes need a good polish. But there is still a charm to the place and it is in a great location. The sheets were clean, hot water was available for tea, the breakfast was great (too late in the morning for me personally, but still delicious). I hope the owner spend some time and money and fix the place and services up properly for a much better all around experience.

Our room, Pheasant Dreams, was very comfortable. The carpet looks a bit tired and the soaps/shampoos are terrible but breakfast was great! We loved the location, central to all things Napa. Hennessey House has been sold since I made my original reservation. I had to cancel in March but was given a voucher which was very nice of the new owners to do. I'm sorry to have missed the hospitality of the previous owner, but overall our stay was definitely worth the money.

This Victorian House offers nicely decorated rooms. After inquiring we did get a complimentary upgrade to a nicer room located at the adjacent building that was very much appreciated. Unfortunatelly the fireplace was not working. The hotel is very well located in walking distance to the Wine Train station and most importantly back from the Wine Train Station :). Breakfast is nicely cooked and staff is very friendly. I wish the radio would be tuned to a better station or off :). Overall a great option for a stay at Napa if you are looking to enjoy not only the valley but also the town and the Wine Train.

Charming and spacious rooms in a lovely setting and walking distance to downtown Napa shops and restaurants. Charlie was a great host and cook and the breakfasts were amazing! Lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy the complimentary wine in the afternoon

As many have said the lack of owner presence and impersonal feel is a big con of this place. They also clearly don’t want to spend the money to keep it running as it used to be. Wine social hour was nonexistant. When we came down to see about it, the staff poured us a glass of wine but said they no longer do cookies and cheese and don’t even set wine out. We stayed in the upstairs hideaway which was cute although no fridge but we could use the main fridge. The highlight of the stay was the proximity to downtown and Charlie who made the delicious breakfasts and was welcoming. He stays on the property.

You better like the old Victorian feel that is dusty and invasive, because this place did not meet public health safety standards if they exist in this county. Check all the other platform reviews of this place, because this is NOT favorable. I rented it for 5 nights and after getting there at 11pm, slept in the bed only to wake up and leave. They didn’t find any sympathy to offer a single night refund, when I was amicable to partial. Our room was under a flight of stairs like Harry Potter and this place doesn’t deserve anything close to 5 stars. Paying for the full 5 nights still didn’t stop me from leaving after night 1, and that is how strong I feel.

I guarantee this is not what you are dreaming of when you think Napa B&B. ||Pros: This room would be a solid AirBnb given the excellent location and cleanliness. Would even be a 5/5 AirBnb if priced better. ||Cons: Such an impersonal stay. Check in is via email. There are no hosts to greet you or give recs. The “wine pouring series” does not exist. The welcome email describes a tasting of 2 wines on the patio as weather permits or inside - there was nobody in the patio or common rooms during the wine tasting times. When I emailed about it, I was provided a bottle of wine (already opened and half empty) by a very nice staff member.||Neutral: Can’t report on breakfast as we are leaving to go back to SF too early for the 1 hour breakfast window. Typical quirks of an older property like sink that takes a long time to empty. Also - hot water heater is broken. Not able to use the claw foot tub or take a hot shower. Partial refund was given accordingly.
