I booked my room last minute and I think I got the best room, the Switzer room. Fireplace with plenty of wood, newspaper and matches, big cozy bed, two window seat benches that are perfect for reading and curling up for a nap. The breakfast brought to the room each morning was great, well-rounded. The staff was sweet and the whole house was clean, full of cute nooks. Perfect location in town and a 4 minute walk down to the beach.
Stay here! I can’t wait to come back.

So charming and cute! Delicious and beautifully presented breakfast delivered to your room each morning. Perfect location in the center of town where you can walk to everything. Each room is unique - we loved the Barry room with it's views.

Since this is an old property, some things are a little dated. The bathrooms for instance aren't great, but it's to be expected for a place with an antique feel.

Wasabi Soy sauce

This is such a wonderful place to stay while in Mendocino. The rooms are big and beautifully decorated! This is truly where you can relax and be away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Their breakfast is prepared every morning and delivered to your door. Not only it’s freshly cooked but it is also good! They are very respectful and nice here they don’t bother you. The location is central and close to the hiking trails and not very far from Fort Bragg. I will definitely come back here when I visit Mendocino.

Rail Road Rust

This was more than a pleasant stay. My experience of BNB's from Maine to CA, this place was the best ever. Comfortable bed, beautiful ambiance, great service and a breakfast that is second to none. Beautiful views and you feel like you're a part of the community. We stayed for two nights and couldn't have been happier.

I chose this place for my moms birthday staycation. We stayed in the George Switzer Room, which is on top of the third floor.

Highlights:
- I forget her name, but the older lady who welcomed us the first night was so friendly and accommodating. I think her name may have started with a “D.”
- We got to enjoy their homemade fresh baked cookies and breakfast and both were VERY good. Especially the cookies.
- You can’t beat the location. 10/10 location.

Room for improvement:
- The shower door should be fixed. Every time you try sliding it, it comes off it’s rail and gets stuck.
- Hopefully in the near future they replace the carpet throughout the building with hardwood floors. The carpet is pretty dirty and black.
- The beds are SO high up. Maybe add a bed stepper stool thing for the short people or elderly?

Stayed at Headlands Inn Bed and Breakfast for one night in July 2024. They were very accommodating with my slightly late check in request. Well appointed inn-style room. The Wilson Room was stocked with firewood, which made for a very toasty room once the fire got going. Breakfast was served on a tray in the morning, beautifully made and arrange and tasted even better than it looked. If we were in the area again, would definitely stay again and recommend that others do.

We had a wonderful stay for our anniversary weekend. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast both mornings was delicious and beautifully plated. You can’t beat the location either! We will be back! Oh we we loved having access to the bikes as well!

We booked our room since we were passing through Mendocino during a roadtrip. The place itself is super charming and the hosts were friendly and helpful. It really felt special to stay here due to the attention the hosts paid to details. They had our notes/requests ready from our booking notes ar checkin and in the evening there was tea and freshly baked cookis available in the lounge area.
Our room was clean and everything in the bathroom worked fine.
Our only complaint would be the mattress being too soft/worn out in the middle. We are used to evenly hard mattresses and this wasn‘t ideal for us.
The breakfast was placed outside of the room during the expected time (8:45-9:15) and provided a hearty start for our day.
I would definitely recommend the Headlands Inn as it is just so charming and the service is great.
