We enjoyed our stay here in October 24. It has mixed reviews so we thought we’d offer our thoughts on our very pleasant one night visit.

General location: convenient stop over point if you’re visiting Monument Valley (pictured).

Room: clean, comfortable bed, decent hot shower, coffee machine, fridge, ice bucket (ice machine in communal area).

Hotel surrounds: in a very small town which has a gas station with accompanying 7/11 shop and a couple of restaurants. The hotel grounds include a small pool and a river bank. There are a couple of picnic benches by the river, which we used to have a beer while the sun set on a hot evening. Easy parking.

Food / drink: nothing on site but you can bring your own booze to drink by the river and there is a fantastic steak restaurant a couple of minutes walk away.

All in all, we recommend this place. It’s not 5* luxury but it doesn’t claim to be. It is a friendly and clean place in a remote town and is ideal for a road trip pit stop in pleasant surrounds. We would stay again.

Great Hotel with great and friendly staff. Located perfectly within a short distance to or from Monument valley. We really enjoyed the pool and the warm jacuzzi with its great view into the red stoned desert. The staff was very friendly and helped us to send back something we forgot in the hotel room which was of much value for our kids. Thank you again and hope to see you all by the next time we travel through

Great room, very clean, nice linens, big bath towels, well appointed. The outside looks a little old but the rooms are nice. The pool and hot tub are wonderful and you have a view of the river and red rocks. At night, we sat by the pool and looked at the stars and Milky Way. They had a sign on one building that said Hat Rock Cafe...Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, but there was nothing there. There are only a couple restaurants in town and not much else.

Monument Valley is delightful, and this little hotel was the perfect spot for rest, relaxation, and beautiful surroundings. The room was so clean and quite nicely sized with a chair and ottoman beside the bed, the bed was comfortable, the location was so quite and SO BEAUTIFUL - it truly is on a ledge over the San Juan River and the facilities have a little eating area with picnic tables overlooking the river. There is a lovely pool and spa that are well kept and there are towels separate from your room at the pool. I HIGHLY recommend staying on "the river side" as opposed to the "highway side" (there are delineations on their booking site). I wish we had an extra day here. It's about 20 minutes, perhaps 25, from Mexican Hat, and there are two restaurants in town if you need to eat out - we just enjoyed our leftovers from the day before in our room because there's a fridge and microwave!

I felt the price was high for the room. We were originally given a room with another guest already in there so that was a shock. I loved the view of the river and we enjoyed star gazing and watching the sun rise from the pool. The second floor exterior flooring needs some repair. It was a beautiful area, the pool was definitely my favorite part of the inn.

We had a great stay at this motel. The rooms were impeccably clean. The beds were comfortable, and everything from the bathroom to the floors was spotless. The pool was another highlight—well-maintained, always clean, and at the perfect temperature, making it ideal for relaxation after a long day trip

We were on a 5 day road trip throughout Colorado, Arizona and Utah and this was our last night stay before heading home to Denver. Doesn't look like much from outside/from the roadway but the rooms surprise you. We were 1 of only 4 groups staying that night and the lady at the check-in desk asked if we wanted a ground floor room instead of being upstairs on the 2nd floor which I gladly accepted. She was super polite and nice. Pros: 1.) Rooms have recently been updated and look very nice. Best refrigerator we've had on our trip as far as size goes. Bathroom is excellent - good water pressure. Bed was comfortable and had 4 pillows to use. Also had 2 sitting chairs which was a first on this trip. 2.) Outside views towards the river are great especially early in the morning. 3.) Pool area looked really cool and would be nice to use in the summer time but due to timing of our trip in mid-October is was closed - understandably. 4.) There's a wood burning fire pit and sitting area to take in the views of the river and canyon. Cons: 1.) No continental breakfast offered but they did have Keurig machines in the rooms. 2.) Cable TV situation is not great with channels available/selection.
Side note: Price seems a tad pricey considering how remote Mexian Hat is from anywhere else and was most expensive place we stayed at on our trip especially when you factor in the lack of places to grab food (there's an expensive steak place up the road, a 7-11 and another place to eat at the San Juan Inn, which doesn't have great reviews so we avoided it).
Would recommend and would stay in again when we travel through based on the room and views.

Don't let your first impressions fool you - this is a lovely place to stay. Tge first view of the hotel from the road is misleading.

Everyone we met was wonderful; helpful and friendly. The room was spotless, shower worked perfectly and the beds were comfortable.

The pool was a highlight, especially for my 12 year old son.

Ray and I loved our short stay here. Thank you.
