What a lovely hotel and unique experience! Incredibly charming, warm, clean, and centrally located. The rooms have character and the common areas are full of cozy antiques and finds. Hardwood floors, the bay windows, the flowers blooming in the courtyard were all delightful adds that you simply wouldnât get with a hotel. They are finishing up renovations so breakfast was not available but that would only add to the experience.
I would highly recommend!

Unfortunately, I have to agree with some of the other recent reviews of this hotel. When I booked it 6 months ago the reviews were glowing; however, our experience was disappointing. I stayed with two other friends (three separate rooms). |At first glance it's an attractive space. There's a wide porch with beautiful flowers, but since there is no seating there no way to enjoy the outdoor space. Inside, the Victorian architecture is balanced by contemporary furnishings. ||While the upstairs rooms were spacious, the downstairs room (#1) was tiny, with barely space for a bed. There was little airflow so despite having a fan, the room became so uncomfortably hot that my friend had to keep her door open at night. (This was in April. I can't imagine what it would be like in summer). For some reason this room was more expensive than one of the much more spacious (and airy) rooms upstairs.||Cleanliness was also a problem. One of the showers had long strands of hair adhering to the wall, and in another room there was a very large dead bug. None of the outlets in my room were close to furniture so the only way to charge my phone was across the room on the floor. The shower in the clawfoot tub was an adventure, because the double shower curtain surrounding the whole tub made climbing in difficult obscured the soap dish and ledge (Where can I put my shampoo?) One wonders if the hotel owners ever spent a night in their own place?||There is no human presence at the Inn at all. I've stayed in other B&B's/inns which had self check-in, but there is usually at least a welcome note or email, lists of nearby restaurants or sites, or something of that nature. We didn't even get check-out instructions. |The overall impression we had is that the owners don't really care.

The location is definitely the best selling point of this place. There are plenty of food and drink options in a couple of mins walking distance. The mansion is really cool, clean, and spacious. Each room has a unique arrangement and all are very spacious. On site parking can be difficult and extremely tight if you have a full size SUV or truck. That is the only complaint I have, but there is plenty of street parking and a valet lot directly behind the mansion if you can't squeeze into a space. Otherwise this is a perfect place to stay especially when you factor in the cost compared to nearby hotels.

We wanted to love this place. When I booked, my partner and I agreed that the rate was reasonable because it included breakfast and the charm of the historic home and the reason we were visiting just seemed to be kismet.
However. I was told a week before my stay I would receive an email confirming my booking, I never received that. I kept calling and calling and emailing trying to get in touch with someone, only to be shocked on 2/17 by the website stating that the home had new owners and would no longer operate as a Bed & Breakfast. After countless phone calls and emails I finally found a new email address for the new owners and received confirmation of our stay.
Once we gained entry into the home we noticed all the lovely antique furnishings that we had specially booked forâ is all gone. New modern-esque furniture greets you in the formal sitting area, and they do have a complimentary coffee bar, though we could not seem to locate any other refreshments (like bottled water). We entered our room to⊠bare bones essentially. No artwork like previously shown on the website, and more modern type furnishings. While everything was clean and tidy (which I appreciated) most of the charm was not there. The clawfoot tub was beautiful, though the water in the shower was barely above tepid. We did have a TV in the room, however at no point did it ever connect to the spectrum account it said it had, and thusly it went unused, and there is no trash bin, save for a tiny one in the bathroom, so we had nowhere to discard our empty drinks we had to purchase (because agin, not even a bottle of water was provided).
I know when there is a transition in new ownership there can be some hiccups, but the experience I paid for is not the experience we received, and had I known there wouldnât have been breakfast provided, I probably would not have booked this establishment at the price I paid. I do believe the next time I am in Birmingham, we will find different lodging.

Please don't call this a bed and breakfast. It's clean and a beautiful place. But I would call it more if a air b& b. They never checked to see if everything was going good. We had no room check and the small garbage can started to overflow, we used our own bags for the garage. The TV didn't work and there were no instructions. It was our 25th anniversary and I can say Birmingham is a great place to visit, but I will be passing on the Hassinger Daniels Guest House in next time we visit.

I was traveling with family and we booked a suite at the Hassinger Daniels in February, not knowing that there was a transition in ownership happening. We were looking for a traditional B&B experience in a historical home, which is what we thought we were getting.
I donât normally leave reviews, but itâs only fair I warn others before they book at this venue.
When we arrived, the house was locked, there was a note saying that the email you received has the code to get in, we never received a code. There is also a phone number posted on the door, we tried calling several times and left a message. I look up and scour the website looking for any other contact information, I found one more number on the website and call that number. Thereâs nothing more we can do at this point, so we go to dinner and start looking up other accommodation options. We finally get a call back over an hour later from the 2nd number found on the website, not the number that was posted at the house. The âoff-site managerâ sends me a text with the info we should have gotten in an email but didnât. She also informs me that breakfast is no longer included, which it was when we had booked. We finally get into the house, itâs completely different than advertised. Not at all welcoming, none of the charm portrayed in the photos. All the historical furnishings are replaced by cheap generic pieces. I would liken it to a lonely, eerie hostel. All the rooms are numbered, theyâre open and have the key sitting the lock, you have to go find your room by number. We find our room, and in there we find cockroaches, 3 of them! We move to a different room on a completely different floor. We call and tell the âmanagerâ. She said we will be receiving a partial refund. We have yet to receive any refund. I emailed the owners as well. The emailed back once, then stopped responding. This was the worst accommodations I have ever experienced. My family member with me said â You could find better lodging in a college dorm roomâ.
It is a beautiful home. The direction the new owners are taking it is just very sad.

Very sad how itâs gone to seed. The exterior is beautiful and you can tell it was once the most splendid mansion in Birmingham. Recently it was bought by new owners who clearly donât give a damn. Cheap furnishings, non-functioning TV, no instructions for WiFi, got rid of the breakfasts. They donât even provide mugs for the tiny coffee machine in the lobbyâ just paper cups and plastic utensils. Theyâre clearly just taking $ in without putting anything back in. Will never return!
