Although I was not a guest, I had to pull over here because my daughter had just left the hospital from having surgery and she was violently ill.

I did not know what else to do, so I ran in here and asked the young lady at the front desk if I could have a bag for her. She very quickly obliged and also offered a bottle of water.

She should be commended for going out of her way to help, even if we weren’t a guest at the hotel. We will have to make several more trips before this is over and we will definitely be staying here.

I’m sorry I didn’t get her name since I was in panicked Mama mode, but she was working around noon on 5/19/25.

Thank you again!

Most definitely not up to Hampton Inn standards. While there are signs saying major renovations are coming or should have rather already started 3 months ago, there is no evidence of such. Our room had paint chips falling from the ceiling, an air conditioner that would not shut off, electrical outlets that did not work, light fixtures falling from the ceiling, a bathtub leaking faucet that would not shut off and a feeling of humidity and mustiness in the room. The leaky tub was so annoying we had to put a towel down and shut the door not to hear the water dripping. See all the photos. Breakfast was good however and the bed itself was comfortable as were the pillows.

I specifically requested my bed be made up daily. I put my request in my reservation and I also confirmed with the agent as I checked in. She told me it would be no problem period I went to work this morning and returned to find that my bed was not made and my room was very stuffy and it had an odor. I notify the front desk agent my bed was not made up and she informed me that they don't do that here. They only clean the room every other day. I told her not true I stay at Hilton hotels all the time and they never give me a problem if I make that request specifically. She then informed me it was a hilton policy since COVID. Ummmmm I'm not sure why a rule created out of a catastrophic time over 5 years ago relates to my situation today. The agent.
didn't have enough decency to even apologize. I am very disappointed with the service at the Hampton Inn this is a request I make every time I visit a hotel. The condition of this hotel is sub par at best. For the amount of money I paid for a specific request for my bed to be made, the breakfast is crappy, stained carpets, smelly rooms, and POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE is not what I expected. Hampton inn has a 100% guarantee that the customer will be satisfied. I am not satisfied with my stay, with my room, with the condition of my room or the amount I paid $170.00 per night and I can't even get my bed made. Trust me , Monday morning, I will be speaking to the Hotel manager and I will call Hilton corporate number again to receive some resolution this is unacceptable.

I travel for 150+ nights a year and typically don’t leave 5 star reviews on hotels, but rather just continue to rebook if I like it.

I felt inclined to leave a review this time based on the plethora of reviews recently that completely made me question what I would be walking into.

The hotel is older and with any older hotel, some TLC is needed BUT the staff here was great, the breakfast was good, the room was quiet and comfortable, and everything felt safe and secure.

Reviews seem to be from guests expecting luxury accommodations. This was a more than adequate hotel and I’ll be back in future travel to Birmingham!

I’ve stayed at multiple Hampton Inns, but this hotel was nothing like my other good Hampton Inn experiences. This hotel desperately needs a remodel and/or better maintenance. Carpets are dirty/stained, trim and wallpaper are coming off the walls, furniture is dated and tired, in room HVAC units are loud, window shades that can’t be rolled up…I could go on.

The one day we ventured into the breakfast area, the serving area was a mess with spilled food, and empty stations. The communal tables were not wiped down, trash cans were full and used plates left on tables. Coffee carafes were not refilled in a timely fashion.

On our last night I realized our in-room phone was not working when I had to request towels since housekeeping had removed all towels from our room but not replaced them. At the front desk, they could only provide me with one bath towel, one wash cloth and one hand towel…for two people.

The one positive thing was the location of the hotel. It was very easy get into Birmingham, Homewood and other surrounding towns, however if I come back to this area, I’ll be staying at a different hotel.

Location is good - 4 minute drive to downtown but I like the mini downtown in the hotels neighborhood. A good restaurant nearby is Surf Hound.||The building is very old and needs a makeover. The first floor resembles an insane asylum basement hallway. The guest room I stayed in had old dirty carpet with some stains, water stained pop corn ceiling, and the blinds were stuck so I couldn’t open them. The AC made the room feel damp.||I also requested a pack and play/crib and didn’t receive one. The rooms phone doesn’t work so I use my cell phone to call the property multiple times and someone would just answer the phone but not say anything every time.

Just one word "NASTY"
The hallways were thilthy, they stank. The paint and carpet looked like it was replaced last melimia. The elevators were dingy and dirty. Shame on Hilton. Take a look at my door. This is a $40 room, not $165. By the way when we open the refrigerator door out gushed water and covered the floor. We had to change rooms for the third time. The night manager did try her best. We want our money back.

By the way the toilet seat was so loose that when I sat down on it I fell off. These people should be relieved of the Hilton flag. Stay away for your own health and safety.

We had to change our travel plans on VERY short notice to book here for the weekend. I can't speak to the ease or service there, but when I arrived our room was well maintained. Upon leaving (in the chaos of a big storm) I left a bag in the lobby and didn't realize until 4 hours later when I got home. I called the hotel and have to give credit to Aleah who put the bag in the back, moved any valuables to the small zip bag (per my request), and walked me through the process to FedEx it back to me. It was all done very timely and professionally as well as correspondence regarding it all on their end via email. Got my bag back in 2 days with everything accounted for. Can't thank enough for the great service! If ever in Birmingham again, I'd definitely stay here.
