I am glad it's open again, I wanted to try it before but the Cajun menu was not my cup of tea so I walked in and walked out after seeing there was nothing on the menu that I could eat. Anyways now it has regular food and great menu! The chicken quesadilla was stuffed really good unlike other places where they cheap out on the chicken and cheese. The pork chop was yummy and the crab cakes too. I want to return to try the buffalo flat bread and their wings. Great friendly service.

For some reason, although my first experience at Grumpy Goat Tavern was not great, I decided to give it a second chance. This time, my wife and I came for lunch. In terms of the service, it was what we expected. The waiter was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The problem is that the food was not what we expected. First, we wanted to have the jalapeno poppers as appetizers and the waiter informed us that because of an activity from the previous day, they didn’t have jalapenos. Then, we decided to have the shrimp wontons as an appetizer, unfortunately, they were out of them as well.

As we did not have any appetizer options that we liked (and we didn’t want to keep torturing the server with requests of food that they did not have), we ordered our lunch entries. I ordered a Cuban sandwich with fries and my wife ordered grilled chicken mac and cheese. Usually, these are food items that are difficult to ruin, but whoever was the chef, he was capable of making a bland and dry Cuban sandwich and forget to season my wife’s chicken. The chef was also able to burn the chicken, when I say burn, I mean that the charred crust tasted like charcoal and the chicken was rubbery.

I would say that stating that we will not give this place another chance is an understatement! We ordered a “doggy bag” for all the food that was left; unfortunately, this time, the leftovers will really be for our dog.

This is a warm, fun, cozy environment to dine in. I was there for a wedding shower in a private room. The food and serve staff was really good! Very friendly too! The bar in the other room was quite lively as there was a football game on. And the people in the bar were clearly having a great time and we did too in our private room for the wedding shower. I would go back for sure! I live out of state, but for people in the Elgin area of IL and surrounding areas, i would def recommend!

I’ve had good, and bad experiences when going to the goat, the food is very delicious. Sometimes side dishes arrive after we are done eating. Not a fan of the fish tacos, the fish is batter /fried .In the summer months, the bar area has a lot of golfers that get very loud/ swearing . They need to close the sliding barn door to the dining room. Steak burrito and southwest chicken wrap are very good so is the mac & cheese and mashed potato potatoes. The chicken marsala is very good when it on the menu. The mousse cake dessert is very good.

Great food service and atmosphere. Consistently very good. Recommend the blackened chicken wrap. The view of the golf course makes the dining experience a step up from other places.

Grumpy Goat just became my new favorite breakfast place. I had the best vegetable omelet I ever had. It was packed with veggies. We sat overlooking a beautiful golf course and our waiter Zach was super friendly and very attentive. Can't wait to come back!!
