This place is in the heart of Gallup NOT ON The West side or East side. Right off 491. The room I have been staying in is Good. Parking lot is good Can't complain for the price. There is a car wash and restaurant *El sombrero* next door don't even have to drive you can walk. You could even walk to downtown it's not even a mile away to avoid the hassle of driving and finding a parking spot.

Didn't even get to complete my checking in....as I entered the lobby area, WITH a chair holding the door open, the lady/owner behind the desk abruptly and rather rudely told me to step outside the door, I do no come in, this is her space for protection. There was NO note saying ring the outside bell, on the contrary, you see the "lobby" door ajar, it would seem welcoming. She was not apologetic, nor welcoming, as I told her, you know what, forget it....and went to a more friendlier ran establishment. You have your home where your business is, you DO NOT treat travellers like we accidentally stepped into your bedroom, when it is advertised as a public hotel. Very glad I didn't stay.

I was tired and made a mistake by staying here. The previous night I had stayed up the road for 51 $ , tried to save a buck. At 38 $ vs 51 $ the night before the 13 $ savings was not worth it. Believe me ! This is the most run down dilapidated place I've stayed for years ! Enough said !

both golden desert motel and el capitan motel in gallup are father and son India descents operation.... ....both lack customer service....bad services....like father like son......I'm not staying with them no more
