We really enjoyed our visit to this bed and breakfast. Owners were very welcoming and gracious. The room was very spacious and comfortable. They had a lovely porch with an abundance of flowers which was great to just relax on. The breakfast was hearty with excellent homemade jams and I absolutely loved her rhubarb coffee cake! The only drawback, which they can't control, is that there is a long drive down a gravel road to get to the house. We would still be happy to return some day.

This B & B is down a dirt road outside of Telkeetna. It wasn't a problem for us, since we had driven the 60 miles to McCarty, and the road is fairly well maintained. Our room was spacious and clean and very welcoming. We had a bathroom in our room which was large and spacious with a shower & a spa type tub, toilet and sink, but had no window dressings, which was a little disconcerting with a large mirrored closet door facing the window, it made you feel a little exposed. There is a large open area upstairs with a wood burning stove which they lit at night. Peregrine & Kestrel were very welcoming to us. The breakfast is made while you wait and the jams are home made.

We stayed here for one night to ride the flag train from Talkeetna to Hurricane and back. I knew we would be tired and also wanted some extra time to visit Talkeetna.|I searched for something with a good review and this seemed to be the right choice.||It is a little B&B, basically their private home renting out some rooms. Very nice rooms with huge beds, nicely decorated. Each room has its own designated bathroom but it may be down the hallway or across it so. Very clean, good shower, excellent breakfast. The hostess is very nice and accommodating.||The B&B is about 6 miles before Talkeetna but you will receive excellent directions. From the hwy it takes 2 miles on a gravel road, drive slow.||There are still some rough edges but it is my understanding that the B&B idea started in 2017, so it will take a little bit more time to get rid of them, inside and out. By all means, stay here. It is really a nice place and the good night sleep alone makes it well worth it.

We were referred to this lovely B&B by a friend who had been a guest and highly recommended it.We could not have been more pleased! Vern was a gracious hosp who made sure we had everything we needed.
The location is secluded, pastoral and lovely. You are surrounded by colorful baskets of flowers on the porches and covered decks. I enjoyed walking around the property and admiring the prolific garden and greenhouse.
The location was ideal for our day trip to Denali National Park, and fly over trip to Mt Denali and glacier landing- an amazing experience! We also enjoyed dinner and visiting nearby Talkeetna.
Our Merlin suite was spacious with a huge walk- in closet,private bathroom and super comfy bed. We loved opening our windows to enjoy the cool Alaskan nights.
Vern prepared two delicious breakfasts for us- especially loved the Rasberry pancakes!
We left with some of the yummy jams and jellies to share with family and friends.
We look forward to our return visit!

Location- best for those with a car as it's off a long dirt road and not walking distance to Talkeetna-||Beds super comfortable- bathroom in the room upstairs was compact but private, clean and good water||Hosts are wonderful and our small group was treated to a fresh baked blueberry pie with berries gathered that day! ||Saw a moose the first evening we arrived and I guess she was back the following morning. Loved the fresh breakfast and selection of homemade jams - which you can also buy and take home! ||Hate to share this wonderful place!

We really enjoyed our stay at Falcon's rest. The owners were so nice, informative on life on an Alaskan farm. Breakfast was very good, farm grown potatoes were a treat as well as the fresh rhubarb & strawberry pie. The suite was delightful. I wished we had had more time than just one night stay. It is remote, 7+ miles from Talkeetna, but the area is beautiful. Views of Denali are available from Talkeetna and the highway to Denali. There is plenty of space for families or individuals. Look forward to going back to Falcon's Nest.

The owners were very nice and met our every need. The house is very unusual but the rooms were very clean. The breakfast was fantastic. It is 3 miles down a dirt road and the house uses only solar so be careful on hot water usage. Be a little adventurous, or do not go. We we're generally pleased.

I thank Em and Vern so very much for a wonderful 1 night stay in the Merlin Suite on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, just before they closed for the season. ||||We arrived between 5:30 and 6:00pm, after 8 hours on the 6:40 am Tundra Wilderness bus tour in Denali National Park, where we saw lots of bears, some other animals, and glowing fall colors. ||Em greeted us warmly and showed us to our room. After visiting a bit, we drove into charming Talkeetna and had a fantastic dinner at the Wildflower. |||| Just after we returned at dusk and went to our room for the night, the other couple staying that night saw a mother and baby moose out back. Em tried to call out to tell us, as she knew I really wanted to see one, but unfortunately we did not hear her and missed out on it. ||||Our stay at Falcon's Nest was a delightful opportunity to experience what real, but modern and comfortable, farm life is like in today's Alaska, which is just what I wanted. ||||These people bought this land (400 acres I believe) about 25 years ago, with a requirement to clear and plant a certain amount. VERY hard work - they did a good job making a productive garden and building a large, multi story home with both indoor and outdoor stairs, where they raised their girls and now allow overnight guests to rent one or all of its 6 rooms, each with its own full bath either attached or nearby. This was their second season as a B and B. Em, the hostess, works half of each summer month as a chemist up at the North Slope oil fields. Vern is retired, but runs the farm, and helps Em, or in her absence a daughter, run the B and B. From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, they are full every night, so this is a big job in a large private home with no paid staff. ||||Since it would cost half a million dollars to get electricity where they are, they use solar power, and have a backup generator for when needed. This system works very well, providing hot water (be patient to let it reach your room's shower - it may take a few minutes), ceiling fans, tv's, hairdryer, and wi-fi. ||It would cost another half million to pave the road they live on, plus thousands to pave their driveway, so dirt and gravel is practical and a way of life for most non city Alaskans. || ||Their sweet, quiet dog, Ursula, lives on their covered back porch, under the stairs, guarding the house from wildlife. There are tables and chairs, as well as a grilling area, on that porch, and it has a lovely view of their pond. ||||Merlin Suite (upstairs) was very comfortable, with a queen bed, pullout sofa, and attached full bathroom containing extras such as a spacious closet, a shower stall, plus a large garden style tub which, like the bedroom, has a big window with a great view of Mt Denali. Since there were just two of us, but we each like our own bed, instead of opening the pullout sofa, we chose to add their nice rollaway, which just fit at foot of the queen bed. I slept very well in it, and chose to leave curtains open so I could look out at the night sky and see the mountain first thing in the morning. Woke briefly at 3am to coyotes, and studied beautiful starry sky, hoping for Northern Lights. Woke again at 7am, and after a hot shower, enjoyed a delicious, filling, home cooked breakfast. That morning, they served us fresh potatoes from their garden; omelette with optional ham, mushrooms, onions; English muffin or wheat toast with many varieties of homemade jams to try (my favorite was the raspberry rhubarb); homemade harvested rhubarb coffee cake; and homemade fresh picked homegrown blueberry pie. Awesome! ||||After breakfast, we checked out, and continued heading south toward Anchorage, but enjoyed stopping at the neat birch syrup place which is on the left as you follow the Talkeetna spur highway back to Parks Highway. ||||This stay at Falcon's Nest was special and memorable. I highly recommend it to others who want to experience a rural yet comfortable Alaska home.
