This is an older Marriott property. It's clean and quiet. The room and furnishings need updating. It's very close to many restaurants. They have a full hot breakfast. There are many options of food and drink.

This was a disappointing interaction. I made a reservation through Marriott, using points from all the nights I spend away from my family for work. There are three of us so we needed two beds and got a two queen bed room. Today, the day we leave for vacation, we receive a call from the hotel. They asked if they could upgrade us because a few of their two queen bed rooms had to be taken offline. No problem, that is fine with us. Nine hours later, after tons and traffic and driving through spring thunderstorms we arrive in Dothan. The whole time my wife was excited about sleeping in a king sized bed instead of the queen we had booked. So it was a welcome upgrade. When we arrive however they informed me that we were still in two queens, which no big deal that is what we booked in the first place. I asked what happened and if it was still possible to get the king room. They told me no because it would mess with the internal auditing system because I had booked with points instead of paying. There is the rub, you raised my expectations with a promised upgrade. You tell me there is no upgrade, I can live with that, things happen, stuff gets fixed. What my problem is that this company I show loyalty to through the year for work, decides that it is more important to chase internal numbers instead of keeping their commitment and meeting customer expectations. Disappointing! The loyalty program for Marriott was supposed to be better than Hilton’s.

Smelled marijuana as soon as we walked in. The floors in the room were nasty. They hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The bedding smelled musty. The pool was out of order. They ran out of bacon. The eggs were not good. Was squeamish even eating the food based on the condition of the room. The staff were all friendly and helpful but the place was gross.

The check-in was very easy. The room was neat and clean. The breakfast was hot and delicious, multiple options and Mrs. Q was very attentive and helpful. She made certain we had plenty of fresh bacon and eggs. Thoroughly enjoyed making our own fresh waffles and the blueberry compote was delicious.

My family and I had an unplanned trip to Dothan, AL, the beginning of the new year. Our trip was so sudden that we were searching for hotels as we made the 7 hour drive from our home in TN. The circumstances for our trip was literally a matter of life and death for a family member who was at a hospital in Dothan. After our search, we narrowed our choices down to Marriott properties. Being a longstanding Bonvoy and Titanium Elite member, I felt most comfortable with staying at Marriott properties as I frequent them for work and leisure. ||We finally chose the Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel. We called the hotel prior to our arrival and spoke with Elizabeth “Liz”, the Assistant General Manager. We explained our circumstances and the reason for our urgent trip. Immediately she was compassionate and understanding. It was great to be able to have the conversation with an actual person instead of using only the Marriott application. Liz was very helpful in booking our reservation and ensured our check-in would be guaranteed, considering we were arriving in the early hours of the morning. ||When we arrived to Dothan, we went immediately to the hospital to visit our family member. We stayed at the hospital and did not arrive to the hotel until almost 9am. When we arrived, Tia, one of the Front Desk Managers, greeted us warmly as she was expecting our arrival. She got us checked in right away and made sure we had everything we would need. ||Having driven almost 7 hours and spending 7 hours at the hospital we were very tired, hungry, and weary. We wanted to grab food and go right to bed. We arrived very close to 9am and the complimentary continental breakfast at the hotel was ending. Mrs. Q, the dining room/breakfast attendant witnessed our arrival and our distress and went above and beyond to ensure we got enough food and snacks to have later after our naps. ||This warm welcoming has been the theme of our stay at the hotel. I’d like to give personal mentions to Ms. Jessica Mathis (GM), Tammi (Front Desk), Ms. Carol (House Keeping), and Ms. Rose (dining room/breakfast attendant ) as we interfaced with them daily, several times a day. Everyone has been courteous, kind, and accommodating. I’m certain everyone knew of the circumstances of our stay but I truly believe that they were doing the very best because that is their daily routine.

We were driving from St. Augustine to Tuscaloosa. Needed somewhere just to sleep the night. This is probably 1 of the worst Marriotts we have stayed at. We are Titanium guests. We only stay at Marriotts. If you cannot carry the values and standards of a Marriott, you should be transparent and sell yourselves as a Motel 6.
Pitiful! Needless to say, will never stay here again.
The lady who checked us in at 11pm on 05/01 was very pleasant.

I choose this hotel specifically for the indoor pool and joining rooms. Both are advertised, however, even with me calling in advance, we were not able to get either of the TWO joining room options. And the pool was so cold, we were not able to use it.

Considering the rest of the hotel was as expected and service was good, I did leave a good rating. Just don’t plan on this hotel if you need joining rooms or to use the pool in the winter, even though it is indoor.

Great location with courteous staff. The included breakfast has a wide variety of offerings. Rooms are clean with fridge and good showers. I used the adequately furnished gym briefly. Close to RTJ golf is a bonus!
