Engvadonia Yosemite - Mariposa, California

Room, service and location everything was perfect. We stayed for two nights at Engvadonia with Steve, Nickey and their dog Cheyenne to discover the area around Mariposa, but especially go hiking in Yosemite. Both were friendly and very helpful and had their own separate area in the house. Our sleeping room, bath room, living room and kitchen were very clean and we felt home. Also the breakfast was very good. The best thing was the amazing air, as Engvadonia B&B is located in nature and we could see in the night thousands of stars. We can definitely recommend this place for a stay.

Very nice B&B. Nickey and Steve are great hosts who really make you feel at home at their place and always have good advice on what to do and which places to visit at Yosemite. The lovely prepared breakfast was delicious!

Let's get the basics and road trip tactics out of the way first. Our bedroom was cosy and well-kept, with ample bathroom facilities and plenty of privacy when we wanted it. In terms of location, Engvadonia is an absolute diamond. Tucked amongst the winding lanes and rolling rural hills of Mariposa county, it's a perfect base camp for striking out to El Portal and Yosemite Valley on day trips. ||||That said, we'd stay again even if Engvadonia was 100 miles from anywhere.||||After two weeks of road-tripping around LA and Sequoia, being looked after in the comfort of Steve and Nickey's home was the perfect final stop to this incredible holiday. It honestly felt like we were staying with family, swapping stories, eating delicious breakfasts, sharing music... being well and truly looked after.||||As locals with deep knowledge of the surrounding area, they offered some invaluable advice on traveling to Yosemite, ideal walking routes and viewpoints, places to eat and everything in between.||||After our first day in Yosemite, when I popped the question to my now-fiancé, Steve & Nickey were the first people we announced our engagement to. Being 5000 miles from home and still receiving congratulatory hugs and handshakes meant everything to us. On our last night, we had dinner together, laughed, blasted music, drank wine and celebrated the occasion.||||As a parting present, Nickey even gave us one of her hand-crafted dreamcatchers. A fitting gift for an unforgettable memory of our last days in California. Beautiful home, delicious food, fantastic hosts and wonderful humans.

Our stay at the Engvadonia B&B was absolutely perfect. The B&B is clean, close to the park, hosts are incredibly warm, and property is gorgeous and fun (they have a chicken coup)! Nicky always made sure we felt at home and Steve shared a ton of information about Yosemite, quite frankly better than a paid tour guide in my experience. Thank you Nicky and Steve for the memorable experience - we will be back!!

We loved our stay with Steve and Nickey! After our first shock of sharing a bathroom with other guests (completely our fault, we did not read properly), we could not have loved it more. We have not seen a room as clean and beautiful on our whole trip and our hosts could not have been nicer. Our dinner in town, as suggested by Steve, was amazing, and our breakfast, prepared by Nickey was everything we could ask for. We would recommend everyone to stay with these lovely people! They will make you feel at home, give you everything you need and more, will help you set out your route through Yosemite and so much more. Just don’t go into the dungeons, right Steve?

The room was clean, comfortable and a welcoming setting for us and our dog. We normally do not stay in a shared setting but the set up at Engvadonia works well as you are on the opposite side of the house from your hosts providing privacy. The living room and kitchen set up is very welcoming. Nickey was a wonderful host and prepared a delicious breakfast, even sent us on our way with a homemade dream-catcher and delicious pear jam. We will be happy to stay again.

We ended up at Engvadonia after other housing plans for our Yosemite trip fell through, and we are SO glad we did! Steve was so welcoming and attentive. Not only did he make an awesome breakfast as promised, but he gave us so much advice for our hiking plans through the park. Steve and Nickey are amazing hosts. The house is located just outside of Mariposa and takes a bit of effort to find, but it's remote location is its strong point: no noise.

From day one we were welcomed and the hospitality those two radiate is amazing. Contact in advance to check arrival, prepared room despite having to quickly head out, beautiful welcome card and simply that "home" feeling.

Every morning there is freshly prepared breakfast, ranging from toast to back and eggs or pancakes as well as fruit juices, coffee and tea. The effort put it in really shows.
