Stopped in the afternoon for a much-needed caffeine boost on our way to Sedona. The clerk made us fresh coffee while we browsed the little gift shop and enjoyed the fresh air. They sell the freshest macadamia nut cookies I've had in a very long time and the cookie was so big, it took me a few days to nibble through its deliciousness. My travel partner was impressed with the selection of hard cider that was available for purchase. This beautiful place is nestled in the mountain and I'm sure it's a refreshing place to stay in their cabins - my pictures fail to capture how lovely it is there.

The staff are wonderful! I feel bad for them. I stayed here 3 years ago. The property was in good shape, then. The property is not being kept up. In our cabin the electric potbelly stove was broken. We were given an oil heater and an electric heater for the bathroom. The bathroom didn't have a door! The bed was a potato chip. And the hot water for the shower was...warm😤. Good thing I brought my own blanket. Because we would have been cold. I will not return. | |

My dad took me here for a birthday getaway, and we both had an amazing experience! The staff was super friendly and helpful, the site manager gave us a free upgrade to a more spacious cabin, the grounds were well kept and beautiful, and they have a short hike in the back of their cabins to view several caves and get a great view of the mountains along Oak Creek. The only downside is it would have been nice to have the cabin right on the creek, but they have a private property access point to the creek in front of their coffee shop, so fishing or creek hiking is just a quick walk across the street from the main property. The price of the cabin was very reasonable, and we highly recommend Don Hoel's cabins for anyone who wants a simple, quaint, and quiet creek side experience in Sedona.

Stopped in for some coffee after hiking. Great staff and service. Many options of lattes, teas, matcha, some sandwiches and snacks. They also have oat milk, almond, etc. Amazing quaint location.

This is a little gem lost in the woods next to Sedona. The staff is very helpful and kind, the cabins are clean and the surrounding very peaceful. The location is great to start hiking tracks in the area. Highly recommended for anyone wishing to escape the city during the weekend.

I stumbled upon this little gem in October but only had a night to stay, so I made it a point to go back this week, but with the whole family.
I can't say enough great things about how much we love these little cabins. Be ready for your phones to lose reception but the trees make it worth it. The cabins are clean, comfortable and well appointed. It is a welcome reprieve from how touristy Sedona has become and makes you feel like you have stepped back in time with a moment of peace and quiet.
Sean, Trey and Shree are such delightful and attentive staff, when there was one small issue Sean had it fixed in moments with grace and even after hours. I gave the rooms 5 stars, because they are cabins! If you are looking for full tech access, the Hyatt is down the street. I prefer this roomy and comfy cabin in the trees.
My only hesitation in posting a glowing review is that everyone will find this little gem in the woods! Nonetheless, the staff's very apparent work ethic, warmness and the quality of the accommodations make writing a good review a must. Hopefully the price point and availability will stay the same so we can still take many weekend jaunts up to Don Hoel's. Thanks to you all for a lovely weekend and yummy coffee.

We made reservations based on the low price but the customer service was as good as it gets. It’s like vacationing in a log cabin in the 1940’s - surrounded by forest. And there’s a river too. Really nice people operate this place and we will return
