In Ketchikan, besides excursions, one of the popular attractions to explore is Creek Street. Once a notorious red-light district, it has transformed into a hub of small, locally-owned shops, museums.

We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Creek Street boardwalk area and especially Dolly's House museum. The small house is packed with intriguing history detailing the red-light district, prohibition era, and an impressive collection of antiques and vintage items. The host was incredibly knowledgeable and animated, which greatly enhanced our experience, making it one of the highlights of our time in Ketchikan!

This is a really cool museum! The history of Dolly and her life is really fun to learn about. After hearing Dolly's story from an employee, you can do a self guided tour through her house.

"Only at Dolly's can you get hammered and nailed for $3."

This is me using the actual usable bathroom in Dolly's House! If you're in Ketchikan, you have to drop a duece, I mean, drop by here. There is a friendly lady at the front who takes your money ($10) and gives you a brief overview and history of Dolly and her life before your tour. You're allowed to walk freely throughout the house on a self guided tour.

Highlights
-All the little hiding spots/trap doors throughout the house to hide booze during prohibition
-Dolly's vibrator which looks like an actual power tool.
-Silk condoms that Dolly ended up making into roses on her shower curtain because they were useless.
-Her bedroom and brass bed

Walking distance from cruise ship dock

Insanely well kept piece of history for the town that's mostly original. Great info, great guides and supports the locals!

Cool piece of history. Frindly staff. Unfortunately city order to remove few rooms from museum, so exhibition not full.

Definitely worth a visit. Sometimes the history of a place is saved in a certain point of view that is a little bit skewed. While Dolly's story is colorful and not mainstream, it's important to preserve the story of a person that lives outside the confines of society as we see it. Spend the money and see how a lesser known but equally as important person shaped a town!!!
