2 star hotel, with 5 star service.

Honestly, when I walked in, I was super underwhelmed and a bit nervous. The hotel is dated for sure and things are dingy under the surface because it's a old hotel. But they're making updates and the service is truly top-tier. The staff also keeps things very clean on the surface. There's some old stink from the days of smoking in rooms and buildings and such but again, they don't allow that here, it's all from back in the day!

The pool didn't get up and running during our stay but no big deal, we were here for Starved Rock anyway, not to go swimming in a hotel pool. But if you're interested in a pool, definitely call before you book to check if the pool is ready or not.

Back to the service, Petey and John are cool guys, I didn't interact with anyone else but they are both very helpful and friendly.

The cleaning staff is also on point. They do a great job of keeping the place clean.

I'm always nervous about staying in small town hotels as we're a mixed race lesbian couple, so hypervigilance is a part of surviving for us (IYKYK). But we didn't feel weird here and in the towns people were very Midwest nice! We always get stares and such but that's to be expected, we definitely look like we're not from around here.

For the price and close stay to the highway and easy access to the surrounding towns that offer better food and Starved Rock, this place is a good option that doesn't break the bank. We also brought our two dogs which is $30 a night per dog but that's pretty standard for places that allow dogs.

All in all, we had a positive experience.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Days Inn near Starved Rock State Park, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff welcomed me with such warmth and friendliness that I felt right at home.

The room amenities were top-notch, fulfilling all my needs for a comfortable stay. The bed was cozy, and I was impressed by the bathroom's cleanliness and its refreshing. It added a special touch to the overall ambiance.

Breakfast was another highlight—delicious and well-prepared, giving me a great start to my day before heading out to the nearby Starved Rock State Park. The location is incredibly convenient, making it easy to access the park and enjoy my vacation.

Overall, my stay at the Days Inn was comfortable, and the staff made sure that every aspect of my stay was taken care of. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming and pleasant place to stay near Starved Rock State Park.

Amazing staff. Taking off one star due to the pool being closed and the bathroom in our room was in sub-par condition (water continually dripped, and the shower desperately needs some TLC). The rest of the room was great. As a note, this location is going through renovations- so it’s to be expected that things may not be perfect. Overall a great experience and great price. Will be returning in the future!

The staff were incredible here. Traveling with my dog, who is recently rescued and sometimes nervous. They were very understanding, and one gentleman at the front desk even helped me role play in some training. Plenty of grassy areas to walk in around the hotel, but be mindful of trash from the nearby fast food and gas station. Blankets were a bit thin and some room items were a bit rickety, but for convenience, price, friendliness and breakfast, I’d 10/10 stay again.

Really disappointed and sad the pool was out of order. The front desk clerk seemed pretty clueless about what happened or when it would work again. Other than that, the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the rooms had temperature control, and it felt cozy. Before booking definitely ask if the pool is still under maintenance work. Wish we knew before we booked.

I was told they had a pool when I made the reservations.
So I went and bought swimming trunks and when I got there the pool was empty. That really upset me !!!
I was looking so forward to swimming. But the rest of the hotel was pretty good. It’s under renovation and there was a hole in the pool. The breakfast is pretty nice. You have to get there early because for the breakfast cafeteria fills up quickly but it’s from 6:am to 10:am

This was a clean hotel with a reasonable rate. Staff is friendly. The continental breakfast was basic but adequate. The pool opens early, and check out isn't until 11, so there is time for a morning swim with the kids. We stayed here twice- on our way out and a week later on our way back. I would stay here again.
