We stayed for 2 nights in August 2024 and it was fantastic. The cabins are tucked into a quiet and private hillside and are very roomy, with a lovely deck that overlooks the Wrangell Mountains everywhere you turn. The bed is very comfy and cabin has a large living room with a full kitchen (with running water) to relax in after exploring the area. They even share their bounty of veggies growing in their green house and use solar power. The cabin is kept very clean. Matthew and Torey were excellent hosts and great communicators before and during our stay. Highly recommend.

Perfect! The cabin was spacious and had comfortable beds and beautiful furnishings. Windows let in lots of natural daylight and provide beautiful views! Torrey was very helpful in giving us the information we needed at check in and Matthew was so helpful in arranging a guided glacier tour for our son and grandson! Our grandson even took the plunge on a crystal clear blue pool in the glacier! It was color season and we couldn’t have been there at a more beautiful time! Magical! We loved McCarthy and Kennicot! The Potato is the best place to have supper! |Thanks for providing such a wonderful experience!

Currant Ridge was a great place to stay for 2 nights while we explored the Root Glacier. It actually would have been better to stay one more night and had a second day on the glacier. The cabins are beautiful. It was very easy to make a nice dinner using the kitchen and kitchen supplies available. In spite of the fact that they are in the middle of nowhere, they had containers for recycling different materials. The Shidner family was very friendly. The lawn between the building where you check in and the cabins is very beautiful.

My wife and I visited years ago and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We recently returned with some of our family and again were greatly pleased and impressed with our stay. After nine years the cabins looked nearly identical to when we last stayed. They are extremely well kept, clean, and complete. The view of the mountains from our decks was an outstanding bonus. The family members and family atmosphere of the owners is a rare treat in these days of acquisition and consolidation. We still have a few family members yet to travel to Alaska and when we get them there Currant Ridge will be on our must stop list.

Torey and Matthew are wonderful hosts and have a delightful collection of cabins set in the woods along McCarthy Road in McCarthy, Alaska! Their cabins are very comfortable and very well appointed with everything you could need for a multi-day stay except for your own food! We were in the very end cabin and the views from there were spectacular, a very peaceful and wonderful place to stay! They are a short drive from the footbridge that lets you walk or shuttle on into the heart of McCarthy, so very convenient to McCarthy and Kennicott for exploration. Thanks so very much for your hospitality!

The cabin where we stayed for two nights was a big and beautiful house in a gorgeous location, not far from McCarthy bridge. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. Matthew and his family are exceptional hosts and shared with us their love for McCarthy and Alaska. It was amazing and unbelievable to spend some days in such magic place like McCarthy. We hope we will come back.

This was an amazing place for me and my group of four to stay for a couple nights! The cabin was well set up and a great place to relax after each day of exploring Wrangell St-Elias NP. Matthew and the rest of their crew were also fantastic to work with on getting us different excursions booked, ranging from ice climbing to rafting. Hopefully I get the chance to come back again in the future cause they helped make our trip a once in a lifetime experience!!

Comfy cabins - spacious, clean and well appointed. Coffee beans and a bean grinder was a nice touch. You can even pick fresh vegetables from their garden. Convenient location to McCarthy. Very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable hosts. Matthew was extremely helpful in booking excursions and giving us advice about hikes and other activities. The highlight of our time in McCarthy was spending the day with Matthew as he guided us for a glacier hike. He is a good, knowledgeable guide and a great conversationalist. We would highly recommend Currant Ridge.
