I was initially concerned about staying here, as some of the other reviews were extremely critical. I almost stayed in a town 20m further from where I needed to be simply because of bad reviews!
I'm so glad I decided to stay here. It was so convenient, very clean, and the staff were helpful and kind. My room was, of course, a hotel room, but it was very clean, didn't smell weird, and was quiet. I slept like a baby. The bathroom was spacious and clean and everything worked really well--without those typical hotel-room oddities.
I only stayed one night, but I would happily stay here again.

The room was fine. The problem was the coffee and breakfast. The first day breakfast of eggs, sausage, potatoes were cold when they served it. I was there when they put it out. I had a plate of food withen 2 minutes. I had to put in microwave. I seen several other people do the same thing. I said something to the front desk when I returned in afternoon. They said they would talk to who puts it out.|I also said both the coffee containers contained cold coffee. The one in lobby and where you eat at. Several people were also microwaving there coffee.|they said they would talk to someone on it.|The next morning was the exact same issues. I said something again.|The 3rd morning the breakfast was a little warmer but I still needed to microwave it.|The coffee was the worst this day. Tasted like it was in the container for days, and it was still cold, Both the lobby one and the eating area one. I did not say anything on this, I figured it was just a waste of time. I have read other reviews on thier breakfast it seems like it has been like this for awhile.

This is our go-to hotel when we visit Galena. Every year, we take part in the Galena Halloween Parade, and it is far less expensive to get a room here than any of the resorts closer to Galena. My only negative is that I wish they still had a hot tub. The pool is nice and well maintained, but after hours on the road or marching in a parade, weary muscles need a good hot soak.

This is our third time here in 2 years. Sal and coworkers are always friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is hot, and the facilities are clean. When we came with our kids I swam comfortably in the pool with them; good temperature and clean

Stayed here for a night on memorial day weekend. Room was big and felt clean and comfortable. Pool was good but hot tub was broken. Breakfast was pretty solid in terms of a 2-star hotel continental breakfast. The building was quiet. The employees were doing things that made it look like they care about the space. I was a little weary going into this given a few recent negative reviews, but my experience was pretty dang good. Zero complaints. It's a self-advertised 2-star hotel -- I think some reviewers fail to keep this in mind and have expectations that are a tad too high.

Be aware that the hotel manager will be very strict and not willing to allow you to cancel your reservation and receive a refund. Only book with this hotel if you are 100% sure that you will not need to cancel. I tried to cancel 48 hours in advance and it was not allowed.

WARM STAY!
We stayed here on the way to Galena. This is the only hotel in that area that offers lower prices. There is a subway at a walkable distance. The staff members at the front were warm and friendly. They even offered us some cookies, Tea and food. The room was comfortable. The pool was nice and clean. Breakfast was good and laid in a nice dining room. Overall we had a good time.

I have been staying this location for more than ten years for our fall hunting trip, but no more. Standards have been declining since new owners took it over a few years ago. Things have been less clean. The staff has been less accommodating. Their breakfast has become less appetizing. The vending machines don't work. The pool seems to have been closed for over a year and, as far as I can tell, the workout room has just ceased to exist.|Those were all issues I was willing to deal with because the location was convenient and held some good memories. But I draw the line at parasites. I know a bed bug infestation can happen anywhere and a thorough, professional response can clean up the problem. Sadly, given what I have seen the past few years, I have zero faith that this group can be either thorough or professional. Sorry guys, but after i finish sanitizing all of my luggage and clothing, I will be finding somewhere else to stay in the future.
