Cornerstone Inn - Washington, Illinois

Hi friends,

I stayed at the Cornerstone Inn on Sunday night, February 16th, 2025.

The room was really nice and all...the bathroom was HUGE!

LOVED the tall ceilings and brick throughout.

I stayed in room number four (4).

However, the temperature of the room was all over the place... sometimes too HOT, sometimes too COLD.

DON'T BOTHER WITH THE THEROSTAT....after frustration, I finally just turned it off.... including the ceiling fan.

The bed was hard as a rock....minus well sleep on the floor?

The location is great if you are a City Slicker used to high traffic while your trying to sleep.

Seriously, I barely slept because of the road traffic....the location of this hotel is on the main square on a roundabout.

Maybe they should invest in some soundproofing windows?

I actually like it QUIET when I sleep.

Lastly, the windows were spectacular and attractive, however, the blinds let all the light in the morning, so if you like to sleep in....it is not going to happen at this hotel.

The reason I get a room for the night is to get a good night's sleep.....your not going to get that at the Cornerstone Inn.

All in all, I would rate this hotel (Inn) at about a 2.

However! That is based on my preference of quietness at night and darkness in the morning....and a good night's sleep.

Amazing hotel in a cute little town square. The hotel was easy to find, there was nearby parking and the room was so clean and nice. By far the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in. The ceilings were so high and made the place feel big. It was so private we never saw or heard anyone else. I loved the coffee shop below as well. We have recommended this place to all our friends and family.

During a recent roadtrip, I searched for "coolest hotels in Illinois" to find a unique place to break up the trip. I found it! Cornerstone Inn was everything I needed—bright, clean, and full of character and warmth. I loved the bustling corner it's perched upon—and the friendly bar down below. Bed was super comfortable, ceilings are gloriously high, and Josie (the owner) is on top of it. This experience reminds me why I love small towns. I'd recommend and return in a heartbeat.

We stayed while bringing our son to orientation at Eureka College. It was spacious and beautiful. It looked just like the photos that I had seen online. It was very peaceful. There is a bar underneath and coffee shop next door. I will definitely stay here again!

I travel all around the midwest for work. Whenever I am anywhere near this area I stay at Cornerstone Inn. I've stayed here about a dozen times and it has always been fantastic. It is always clean, the breakfast area always has extra amenities, and check-in is as easy as grabbing your key card from the front desk. The complaints are small and uncontrollable by the hotel; there's no good restaurants within walking distance and the road noise can be loud. Every room is unique and every room is terrific. I recommend this place to all my coworkers and everyone reading this.

We spent an amazing night here!! Room 7 looked so beautiful and had so much space. We loved being able to see out of the window and see the adorable adjacent shops. Super kind and helpful staff too!! I requested a romantic atmosphere and they absolutely delivered with roses and chocolates. Definitely book here and enjoy the coffee shop, the antiques store across the street, and the Bent Penny!! Thank you so much for the wonderful stay <3

Husband and I really liked the historic feel of the room. Tall ceilings, big crown molding and wood floors. Very comfortable and spacious. View of the boutiques on the street that we browsed on arrival. Location was a short drive to downtown Peoria with free parking across the street. Appreciated a quiet room without the noise of a heater or air running. No need with the tall ceilings. The temp was perfect on a super hot weekend outside. Especially loved the coffee shop on the main level. It made the Inn smell like warm cookies and coffee. The decor was a cozy mix of modern and nostalgic from its past Bank roots. Quiche and scones were delicious. We’ll definitely be staying there again.

We had a thunderstorm & sirens one night of our stay. But otherwise enjoyed; big, beautiful & clean, liked the location (sans sirens, etc.), great service. Though a hot breakfast was not served, a good variety was available.
