Disappointing Experience After a Long Drive

We had reserved our room over a month in advance, expecting a smooth check-in after a 9-hour drive with kids. Unfortunately, when we arrived around 4 PM on Sunday, our room was not ready. The front desk staff informed us it might be ready in an hour but made no guarantees—apparently due to only one maid being on duty. While we understand staffing issues happen, that should not become the guest’s problem. After a long trip, having to find a place to wait with tired children was incredibly inconvenient.
We finally got our room around 5 PM, only to find it lacked basic items like trash bags. Additionally, our room was at the far end of the hotel, and the side door closest to it wasn’t functioning. When I asked about it at the front desk, the staff responded with a shrug. It would have been helpful to be informed about that during check-in, rather than discovering it while struggling with luggage and kids.
Overall, the lack of communication and preparation left us disappointed. This stay did not meet the standards we expected.

We stayed in the Comfort Inn at Homewood/Birmingham, AL last night. We liked the location - was just outside Birmingham city but only 6 or 7 minutes from downtown. Overall, it was good. The room was clean and smelled clean unlike the hall on our floor which smelled like over-ripe citrus or a mild skunk odor. The bed was comfortable. We were close to the elevator, but we couldn't hear it. Only one elevator worked. The staff was nice and friendly. Breakfast was OK- would have liked bacon. I'm not a sausage eater. It was kept well stocked. Check out was fast.

Easy to get to right off highway 65. Nice clean rooms. Free breakfast included some sold items like boiled eggs. Yogurt and fruit. Hot food was available if sausage, fried eggs, toast, waffles, oatmal. Bagels, muffins and more. Orange juice, apple juice available along with coffee and milk. I'm sure I'm missing something, as a GF person I was comfortable eating here.
I give it 4 stars on rooms because the they're smaller then queen size beds. It was a tight fit for two grown adults. Family of 5 we took a twin air mattress and was able to use it and put one kid on the floor by the window.

Check in at the hotel went very smoothly and had ample parking.|Room and bathroom were clean.|Hotel is in a nice area and near the interstate. Hotel had a pool and fitness center but did not use.|Hotel had breakfast and they do not extend there time over the weekend to 10am like most hotels do. We went down to breakfast on Saturday morning around 8am and they had very little available. Who ever plans breakfast should have known they had 3 college track and field teams staying at hotel plus the other guests and should have planned accordingly.|The staff was not very friendly but I would stay again

Room smelled like mildew and felt very humid. There was very clearly mildew on the ceiling. If we weren’t so tired, we definitely would have gone to a different hotel.

Beds were fine, nothing to write home about.

Positive: The overall quality of the Hotel was great. Our room was cleaned daily, and the hallways were vacuumed. The Free breakfast area was clean, and the food selection was great. Negative: Point Program-Free Night after several nights.

Adequate. It was clean enough and comfortable enough. But this is an old hotel and showing its age. I'd probably try a different hotel before staying here again.

Positive: Incredibly easy to set up. Location was 10 minutes away from BJCC, which was our main stay attraction. Breakfast room was unique and I loved the creativity. Negative: I have no quarrels
