As a new year’s evening performer, I was able to witness and enjoy the hotel’s service team in high gear. They were uniformly professional and service-focused. What a pleasure to be served by them prior to the show! Food from the restaurant was excellent with perfectly executed proteins and thoughtful sides. A guest commented to me on the beautiful desserts. Brunch the next day was fine, with popular options and a beautiful river view. Highly recommended.

We had a 3-night weekend stay and got a decent rate. Anyone reading this review knows the hotel is old with updates (several, I assume). Some things are well-done and some aren't. In general, the room was good, clean, had a comfortable bed and good bathroom. The king room was small - like you have to walk around the bed all the time and one chair, closet, and bathroom. Perhaps quaint and charming if you're in to that, but not exactly comfortable for 2 adults. Elevator is a hassle. Had TV issues throughout our stay, which they did correct (twice - props to the front desk staff) and took a little off our bill, but a still a problem that they were already aware of. Lounge experience and restaurant food were very good, although breakfast service was poor - our server just didn't come back for long periods of time. Probably a "been there done that" one-time thing for us.

This was our first stay, although we stay in Hood River usually a couple of times a year. It was off season, and we had the place almost completely to ourselves. The grounds were magical, with tons of twinkle lights. Our room was comfortable, with a fantastic view of the waterfall and river. The waterfall sound actually drowned out the freeway noise, which is almost unheard of anywhere in Hood River. The bar was cozy and the bartender offered excellent hospitality. We had a nice breakfast in the dining room before departing in the morning. We will definitely stay again.

I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful historic hotel on the river, and I couldn't have been more impressed. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed, and they made sure my dog felt just as special. The hotel thoughtfully provided a goodie bag for my dog with homemade treats, which was such a nice touch.

The room was comfortable, charming, and well-appointed, with a perfect blend of historic character and modern amenities. I ordered room service for both dinner and breakfast, and both meals were delicious.

The location by the river was peaceful and picturesque, making for a relaxing atmosphere throughout my visit. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my experience, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a historic and dog-friendly retreat.

We spent a night here. The location is unbeatable. The history of the places is amazing. We got to even ride a 100+ year old elevator. Service was really nice. Food in the restaurant was nice.

But, the rooms !!!! The size of the rooms are the size of a large bathroom. Garden view is meh!!! Right next to the highway. AC was right above the window shades and it kept weirdly blowing all around. AC was so annoying and loud that I hardly got any sleep !!! There is a weird closet which is totally unusable ! Water pressure in the shower is really low. Floors in the corridor smells like pee. If I were to just rate the room, it would be 1 star.

Pros: history, location, service
Cons: room

Why is this a 4 star hotel ? I've stayed in 2 star hotels which were better.

Our first time here. Very relaxed atmosphere. Not real high energy but that's what made it great. The lounge offerings of drink and appetizers was perfect for after our drive. The restaurant evening meal was excellent with real fine dining service. Will return.

Vibes wise, an ideal hotel. Historical and classy. The details and decor are lovely and we enjoyed our stay. That being said, it is a 100+ year old hotel and you can certainly tell - soundproofing and insulation for the rooms is nonexistent so you do hear everyone in the hallways and it is drafty. Oh and the antique elevator can only be operated by staff so if you are a frequent elevator user, you should expect minor delays while waiting for staff. Overall an enjoyable and charming place to stay but bring earplugs so you can sleep at night.

We enjoyed our stay here but it wasn’t perfect. Unfortunately the music speaker in the lounge was directly below the room we were staying in, so we heard music playing all night. Also the heater/cooler was quite noisy. There was just one reading light on one side of the bed. The bathroom was nice and the food at the restaurant was delicious. The location is a ways from downtown Hood River.
