Don’t Judge a Burger by Its Building – Classic Burger Delivers the Real Deal

Classic Burger in San Lorenzo is one of those rare gems you almost drive past—almost. From the outside, it’s unassuming, maybe even easy to overlook. But if you’re judging by appearances, you’ll miss out on some seriously delicious burgers.

These folks are serving up flame-grilled 1/3 lb burgers cooked to order, and they’re fantastic. That real grilled flavor, the bit of char on the outside—it’s everything you want from a proper burger. Our burgers came out just right: one with cheese, one without, both with extra onions, and no pickles—exactly as ordered.

And the fries? Outstanding. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill shoestring fries; they’re the hearty steak fry kind, with a crispy outer shell and a warm, soft interior. Perfectly cooked and seasoned—honestly some of the best we’ve had from a local spot.

The vibe is relaxed and welcoming. You order at the counter, they bring the food out to you, and there’s no rush to leave. It’s the kind of place you can actually enjoy your meal. The staff—who seemed like they might be family—were genuinely friendly and eager to please.

Sure, the place could use a deep clean and a little refresh inside, but the heart of this place is in the food and the people. It’s simple, satisfying, and authentic, everything you want from a good burger joint.

Bottom line: I’d take Classic Burger over any chain, any day. Especially the one that prides itself on shuffling you in and out as fast as possible—you know the one. At Classic Burger, you’re welcome to sit, savor, and relax. Do yourself a favor and stop in. You’ll be glad you did.

I didn't even know this place existed, until recently. Like other off-the-books establishments, Classic Burger has more potential than basic chains. The service and food quality aren't complaint-worthy. The prices may not be on par with those of In-N-Out Burger, but they are not over-the-top like McDonald's, Burger King, or Wendy’s (which were much cheaper back in the day).

BUT, I didn't realize until after placing my order that the employees don't wear gloves when handling the food, which is highly concerning. Good sanitation is pivotal to consumers such as myself.

2nd time here in 18 months. My first visit was a pastrami/ beef patty burger. It was good but I wasn't a sold on the pastrami. I blame TOGO's for that. If you know, you know.
My 2nd visit was today. I wasn't really hungry. I ordered a double mushroom cheese burger. I was shocked at the size of these patties. Super thick and tasty. The mushrooms looked super fresh and white when the cook placed them on the grill. I am not sure what they use to saute these things but man, the double mushroom American cheese burger was very juicy with great flavor. I wish my first visit burger was as memorable as this one. I can warrantee you that it won't take me 18 months to be back!

Best burger I’ve ever had. My favorite is the classic burger which comes with pastrami. I think the pastrami here is better than anywhere else I’ve ever had it. Very flavorful, melts in your mouth, and not stringy. The fries and onion rings are soo good and since the burgers are so big we usually share the fries. I recommend calling in your order if you are taking it to go.

It brings joy to my heart to see places like this still exist! This is a no frills diner type classic burger joint. Located in a strip mall this place is worth a visit. I ordered a mushroom burger (medium rare) without cheese and fries (well done). Both did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious! Mushrooms tasted almost meaty and had great grilled flavor. You can’t beat the prices either - $8 for my order. Be prepared to wait at least 15-20 min and possibly longer if there are more people. It’s a small mom and pop operation and I respect that. Sadly I don’t frequent this neighborhood much but now that I know this gem is here, I might have to make some detours.

This was SO GOOD. We had the steak and cheese and the classic burger with a side of fries. Everything was greasy and delicious, just they way I'd want them to be 😁 and the buns were nicely toasted - I really enjoyed the combined texture.

The service was courteous and fast enough. The place looks like an old-fashioned diner, but it's clean. Also, I was pleased to find they have Cherry Coke on the soda fountain!

This place is really really good. I go here often. They have the best burgers (the sauce on the burgers is yum) fries, shakes and honestly one of the best onions rings i have eaten. The food is so fresh and delicious.

Place is clean and there is ample parking always. You do have to wait a bit during busy times but its totally worth it 🙂 A must visit
