The hotel staff are true professionals—very kind, friendly people with whom you can always find common ground. I would especially like to thank the reception staff and managers for making my stay even more comfortable.

I liked everything! I highly recommend this hotel to everyone—it's truly a great place to stay.

Stay here over new year's eve. It was exactly as advertised. I stayed in a private room that utilized the shared bathrooms. They were always clean and practically empty, so they felt pretty private. The location was awesome. We were able to easily get a parking spot and didn't need the car bc we were so close to everything. I really enjoyed how bustling the common areas were. It was overall a wonderful hostile experience!

I had a mostly great stay! The staff were friendly and receptive, especially the supervisor/manager who resolved an issue promptly. The co-ed bunks were decent, though they shake when climbing up, and the wide steps aren’t super short-person-friendly. Lockers are spacious but require a big lock (they sell one if needed and even refunded me for it after an incident). Bathrooms could use more hooks, but hopefully, that’s fixed now. The lounge and kitchen were fantastic—plenty of space to hang out and cook, though the fridges/freezers get crowded. The room was hot, and you’ll need to make your own bed, but I met some amazing people and had a great time. I’d definitely come back!

Great location and service. Ridiculously clean and stylish for a hostel. I got a private room, which was like a dorm room with half bath. Free breakfast. Nice spaces to hang out. Bougie neighborhood-felt safe walking around. Parking is on the street which is a hassle, but worth it. All in all fantastic hostel I am about to use for the second time.

We spent two nights in a private room at the Getaway Hostel. The room was very basic, offering just a bunk bed and a small desk. The bathroom and kitchen facilities were shared, as we would expect in a hostel. ||The kitchen was great and kept very clean by the attentive staff, and the system for storing personal food items worked well (although that ultimately depends on the guests following the rules). The bathroom was kept clean as well. The common room provided some fun activities to kill time on rainy winter days, such as books, a few games and a pool table.||If we would have to mention any negatives, it would be that the guests came and went during the night with little regard to keeping quiet. While this isn’t directly the hostels fault, we didn’t notice any signage reminding guests to keep the noise levels down during the late hours (though we may have missed it). Additionally, the blankets provided in the room were very thin and not quite warm enough for winter. We did not ask for thicker blankets since we only stayed for two nights, so I can’t say whether or not they would’ve been available on request.||In conclusion, we enjoyed our stay. While there were a couple of areas for improvement, they were relatively minor, and it's important to keep expectations realistic when choosing a hostel over a hotel.

I stayed in a private room for over a week. The hostel is a much higher quality than most, but several improvements could be made.

Private rooms should also offer a double bed without a bunk if you are solo. My windows either didnt stay open or were too heavy to open on my own. One room had no hangers, another just 4. There are 4 showers on each floor and 2 oddly have no privacy door! Meaning when you step out of the shower everyone will see you butt naked! WHY That means only 2 showers a floor for prob 50+ people. One on fl 3 had a bad head with low pressure and cold water. Elevator is incredibly slow... imagine taking 10 secs a floor. By contrast my home elevator would be at floor 20 by time this hits level 4.

Suggestions:
Ramp for disabled and big luggage out front
TV in private room
Hangers for every closet
Longer hours for bfast (ends 9:30am).
Offer unscented hyperallergenic detergent for sale too as an option for sensitive folks
glasses rack in shower
Lighting for lower bunk
Private rooms without bunks (and thicker mattress)
Wall racks in private rooms above desk for added storage

I stayed for a whole week while exploring the city, and honestly this place was GREAT! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly at all times. Joaquin, in particular, was the nicest host ever! He was always approachable and ready to assist with anything related to the hostel and tips for getting around the city. It’s a bit far from the Loop area, but that’s fine — it’s close to Fullerton station so you can take the metro from there and get to the city in less than 30 minutes. Breakfast was also OK - same things every day, but for the price, it’s a steal! I definitely recommend this place! 10/10

A bit loud at night if the doors in the stairwell are not closed. I was happy to get the requested pillows. Joaquin was very sweet when we checked out and used the luggage storage room. Decent prices for stays and great area super walkable
