I recently returned from some time out at sea. While I never experience sea sickness, I occasionally feel a bit "land-sick" after days of rocking on the water. This hotel was the perfect retreat for my situation, as it offered a calm and welcoming environment while the land seemed to sway beneath me.

Check-in was a breeze, and while they offer a convenient tech-based option (which I didn’t use), the traditional process was smooth and efficient. The property itself is beautifully maintained, and my room was clean, comfortable, and well-prepared.

One of the highlights of the location is its proximity to everything you might need. As someone who enjoys walking, I appreciated that downtown Santa Monica was just a short 1.5-mile stroll away. The scenic journey along the beach made it all the more enjoyable, blending relaxation with a bit of exercise.

During my stay, I took full advantage of the amenities, including a delightful happy hour, the nearby beach, and a lovely breakfast to start my day. The hotel is situated in a quiet area of Santa Monica, offering a peaceful escape while still being close to the action.

Though the sensation of swaying never quite left me, I took it as a sign that the ocean was calling me back. If you're considering staying here, I can confidently say it was a wonderful experience, and I hope your visit will be just as memorable.

This is one of the few hotels which has made us feel really at home: from Dominique's homemade pear cake and granola, through the rustic charm room to the late afternoon wine and cheese... I’m glad I read the lowest reviews- they’re usually the most accurate. Full disclosure I have not stayed at this property but attempting to book a room has completely turned me off this place. I’ve call the front desk 3 times during business hours and nobody answers the phone or has returned my text message- they must be that California work ethic. I’ll pass because I could just imagine how frustrating my stay would be- no thank you.

Can't fault this charming hotel. From the moment we arrived we felt like we were at home. The place has a very homely feel with the aroma of fresh baking coming from the kitchen down to the lovely music they have chosen playing softly in the background, very fitting. Room great with our own little patio area, beautiful linen on comfy bed. Breakfast perfect. Wine and cheese at 4pm with delicious home made cheese scones much appreciated. One tiny issue for me is that the landing light is left on all night which shines through the door to room, bit annoying as it lit the room up slightly.

Channel Road Inn was beautiful! The room we stayed in was really lovely and had a nice large bathroom. Staff was very friendly and warm, and the food was all delicious. We enjoyed the breakfast and afternoon spreads they prepared for us! It’s in a nice area of Santa Monica, just a few minutes walk from nice restaurants and an easy walk to the beach. We loved our stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Channel Road Inn. We stayed three nights to see a bit of LA before a business conference. Even though it's an older property, the room was well appointed and the bed very comfortable. Excellent breakfast every morning and the afternoon cheese, etc. was a welcome snack. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the location is convenient to the beach - great for walks in the morning. The weather was perfect - 60s to 70s in the middle of the summer; didn't need A/C at night. Of course, just a few miles inland is a LOT hotter in July. The nearby Will Rogers ranch is well worth a visit and there's a nice two-mile hike that gives a good view of the area (Inspiration Point loop). Be sure to take the house tour - lots of interesting history.
