Cavalier Oceanfront Resort - San Simeon, California

Stayed at the ocean front suite. When we got to the room, my wife immediately noticed black spots on the head board. After examining it further it looked to be bed begs. I have attached a photo for proof.

We called the front office, they sent a facilities manager out to check out the room. He agreed that this was a bug infestation. The front office offered to move us to another room. We agreed. Once we had moved, we found more black spots on the headboard in the room that they moved us to. I have attached a video of the second room that we were moved to. Front office attempted to move us again; however me and my wife decided to cut our vacation short and drive back home. Location is great. Service is above average. But we left wanting to go home and clean all our belongings to ensure no bugs made its way to our residence.

Had an outstanding check-in experience thanks to Carolina and Fabby. Had an oceanfront king room with balcony and a phenomenal view. The room also had a wood burning fireplace. The room is a little dated but not bad. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely resort. The room was spacious and you can hear the sounds of the ocean from the room. Comfortable beds and has all the amenities. Though some of the furniture is outdated, it still has a nice charm. There’s nice pathways along the coast.

We loved everything about this hotel and wish we had planned longer for this stop on our vacation trip! The hotel had everything—clean, safe rooms, ocean views, beach access, a restaurant, proximity to tourist sites (including Hearst Castle and elephant seal viewing), family/group outdoor games (giant chess, checkers, corn hole), fire pits, and the best staff ever. San Simeon is a sleepy little town but has some amazing ocean views and the hotel is right on CA-1, convenient for a round trip stop (like we did). Plus, the price was very reasonable. We are definitely planning to go back and make this our destination next time, rather than a brief overnight stop.

No better location. We stayed in a premium room closest to the ocean bluff with private patio. Spacious room with king bed, plenty of storage options, table with 2 chairs for our breakfast, 2 comfy chairs with ottoman facing the ocean and rocking chairs outside. Coffee bar with sink and mini fridge. Large closet with plenty of hangers. Large bathroom with toilet and shower over tub in separate room. We never used the in-room wood fireplace. Large property with firepits, games, 2 outdoor pools and hot tub and big lawn area. Only negative was poor TV reception.

Positive: The hotel provided champagne and party goods for fun New Year?s Eve. We gathered around the fire outside and visited others that has stayed there too. Was a lovely evening. The food was wonderful And Hearst Castle was enchanting Negative: ""

Enchanting grounds, nice spacious rooms with differing layouts, a true resort feel. Let the sound of the surf lull you to sleep. All conveniences are here, including casual dining, pool, outdoor board games near the bluff, computer access, good proximity to popular sights, short stroll to public stairs down to the beach yet has its own self contained "get away from it all" vibe.

We've stayed here before but this was our first time booking a room directly overlooking the ocean - the view is well worth the price. Our room had a strong odor of smoke (to be expected since it had a fireplace, but it was heavy enough to be unpleasant) so we left the patio doors open when we were inside. Problem solved. Highly recommend staying here.
