As far as being in the category of no-frills hotels my experience was quit good. I was busy away from the hotel mid-morning until post dinner every day of the stay so primarily needed a place to sleep. Had a quiet room in the back on 3rd fl. Staff was great, helpful and accommodating and went above and beyond when there was an issue. Be advised that there is no elevator and rooms go to 3rd fl so if you don't like stairs might not be for you or make arrangements in advance. The room was as advertised: it was a small tight room, but clean bed and a new bathroom. Owners appear to be investing in the property and many of the other rooms on the 3rd fl were under renovation, which started and ended at a reasonable time. Location was ideal for my needs. In the lower Haight, quiet neighborhood, nice offering of local restaurants. Ride shares didn't take long or short walk to three bus lines, 5, 6, 7 to downtown (or points west to the beach), while also being a manageable walking distance to the beginnings of Golden Gate Park. Price/value for what I needed was fantastic, but stay might not have worked as well had I needed to work in the space all day. Would go back again. Thank you to the staff.

Casa Loma is a no frills hotel, conveniently located on Fillmore St., near Haight, and is a quick walk or bus ride to just about anywhere in San Francisco you could want to go. Rooms are clean, as are the shared showers and toilets—cleaning staff attend every day. The walls are admittedly thin, so you’ll definitely hear your neighbors, but we spent our days exploring and had no problems there. Front desk staff are all friendly and happy to answer questions, day or night. And it’s true what all the reviews say about that coffee machine! All in all, a perfect home base for a city adventure!

I stayed here in June 2024
Staff were very warm and welcoming! Very informative. Great communication skills
Room was great, good size for myself. Water pressure was great in the shower. The bathroom itself was nice and tidy! Great location- was able to catch public transport and just walk places mostly for food. 10-15mins at best. Would 100% recommend and probably would stay here again.

I would definitely stay here again. The room was very small, but it had what I needed, a fridge, a private bathroom, a blowdryer, a microwave, a beautiful city view, a TV with channels, wifi. The bed was a comfortable queen size.

The neighborhood is quiet and residential but fairly close to some notable areas. Alamo sq park was 1-2 blocks away. Japan town was a 10 minute walk. A bus stop was right across the street, with busses coming very frequently. I was on market st in no time, about 5-10min on bus. The neighborhood was very safe and clean. No trouble going out late at night. Towards market st, things can get a bit seedy at night, but coming from NY, I wasn't fazed much.

The only issue I had was with the cards deactivating on me towards the end of my stay, which was a bit annoying, but the hotel attendant had it fixed in no time.

Also, there was some renovation and construction going on the top floor, so it was hard to sleep in. Other than that, I was very satisfied with this place. I plan on staying here again next time I'm in San Francisco.

Super easy charming place. I needed to be in the city for two weeks for work and didn’t require anything fancy but wanted a location where I could bus around. This is it! Very clean- staff is kind, bus stop right at the corner. Will use this place again when I return.

Good, no frills hotel for those who are looking to explore San Francisco and spend money on sightseeing instead of a luxurious hotel. Hotel is located in a safe area, maybe not the most central location but I'd rather stay here than around Civic Center where a lot of the budget hotels are. Shared bathroom was clean. Noise isolation isn't great, but that is why you bring earbuds. Was able to store my luggage after checkout the last day so I could still go out and explore before I had to leave SF at 4pm.

Took a room for 2 people with Shared bathroom. This hotel is in a great location and very accessible using public transport. The hotel staff are really nice and kind and they allowed to wait in reception when my flight got delayed. I would definitely revisit when I go back to SFO again.

We were looking for a clean comfortable place to sleep near my nephew. Casa Loma is very affordable, very clean, and had comfortable beds.

The coffee machine had the best coffee I've ever had in a hotel. Made Peet's coffee, my favorite, to order in about 30 seconds.

Having lived in San Francisco I did not have a problem with the noise coming in from the street, but that is the one thing that I believe led to the reasonable price.
