đ Reviews of Candlewood Suites Birmingham - Inverness by IHG

Iâve read mixed reviews so I was skeptical but this place is pretty nice, especially for the price. Definitely not a 5 star building as it feels kind of old. It does seem like theyâve tried to renovate it a little bit but it does still feel like an older hotel. Doug met me at the front desk and he was EXTREMELY kind and welcoming.
The only reason this didnât get 5 stars across the board is because of the age. The shower caulking has seen better days, there are a few mystery spots but itâs nothing I wouldnât expect from an older establishment.
Like I said, for the price, it is hard to beat especially since itâs suites so you get a little more legroom than a traditional non suite hotel.

Very welcoming check in. Brian went out of his way to assure we had the best room for our accommodation. During the duration of our stay the young lady at the counter was very kind in dealing with our few needs. (Wish I remembered her name). The room was welcoming, comfortable, clean and spacious. The beds and pillows made for a great nightâs sleep. The kitchenette was perfect for our needs. We did ask the lady who cleaned the room for a large trash bag to combine the bags of trash we were accumulating. I was assured kindly by her that if we left it outside the door she would take care of it for us . As for the location, it was very nice, a lot of food and grocery choices nearby. The parking lot was spacious and felt very safe.

I'm sharing my honest feedback in the hopes that it will spark positive change. Some of the front desk staff are truly exceptional. However, I've noticed that a significant number of housekeepers and groundskeepers could improve their approach. Instead of banging carts and slamming doors, perhaps they could strive for a more considerate and quiet demeanor.
On a positive note, the maintenance team is doing a great job. Unfortunately, the pool area could benefit from more attention to cleanliness. I'm concerned that some personal items have gone missing from room, which is not only disappointing but also unacceptable. It's essential to remember that respecting guests' belongings is paramount.
I hope the corporate office will take these concerns seriously and take necessary actions to address them. Perhaps a thorough review of the hotel's operations and staff training could help identify areas for improvement. By working together, I'm confident that this hotel can provide a better experience for its guest(s).
It's crucial to recognize that everyone deserves respect and kindness. By promoting a culture of empathy and understanding, we can create a more positive and uplifting environment for everyone.
To those who have compromised my trust: I urge you to harness your inner resilience and evolve into empowered women who foster a culture of mutual support and encouragement.
I extend forgiveness to all parties involved.

I travel a lot and prefer places with kitchens as I'm not a fan of eating out every meal. I've come to expect a great staff, cleanliness and well stocked kitchen. This is the first Candlewood that has been disappointing.
I booked a King Suite. I got a big room with the same furniture and a lot of empty space. There was no couch or coffee table which is why I booked a suite. I wanted them. I felt ripped off as I basically got a standard room with a few more square feet that wasn't functional for my needs.
The kitchen cooking utensils were covered in grease from handle to the other end...gross when I touched them. The Spatula was melted at the end and unusable even if it were clean. The sink was dirty and had food from the last guest on it. There were missing dishes. There was no dish rag, I used one from the bathroom. The pots and pans were dirty and had old food stuck on them. The kitchen in general wasn't all that clean. I washed down the kitchen and all the dishes and pots and pans. I also wiped down furniture and walls that needed it. I really wasn't expecting to clean the room after arriving.
I was expecting a 2-burner cook top and ice maker. I got a 1-burner bulky hot plate that made a lot of noise and put out way too much heat. It was hard to keep the room comfortable while cooking. This limited what I was able to make for my meals. There was no ice maker. There was no can opener.
The walls and furniture could use a wiping down as the room was OK but not as clean as it could be. There were obvious places that hadn't seen a good cleaning in a while.
The staff was great and common parts of the building seemed clean. I will continue to us Candlewood Suites. I will not stay at this one again.

Great location and amazing staff! Everyone we encountered during our stay was welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. We accidentally left a piece of medical equipment for our son, and the staff was quick to call and let us know that they would ship it back to us. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had all the essentials a family would need for their stay.

The location and the general manager were the only things that was nice about our stay. There was dog food on the elevator food, a big brown stain in the carpet of the floor we stayed on. Carpet hasnât been vacuumed in a while and the place has an odor to it. Our bathroom had hair in the tub and on the floor, toilet was dirty on the back of it, sheets had stains in them. Asked housekeeping for clean towels and they told us we had to get them from the front desk, so that was very frustrating. Housekeeping did not clean our room. It was just horrible. Sheets for the sofa couch werenât in the room prior to us checking in, so had to go back downstairs to get sheets. Shower pressure was not that great

I wish I paid more attention to the map regarding this location. It is further off the freeway than I wanted it to be however. It is still located in a good place. The staff I encountered was pleasant and the room was clean and it was not nosey. And they were accommodating to my checkout time because I arrived after midnight.
Fix-n-Fly
First impressions are the most important impressions. The moment you walk through the front doors, you are hit with a massive amounts of coverup fragrance. Throughout the lobby and the smells got stronger on the floors with the rooms. This location is really located in a very prominent location with many options for food and shopping. Not to mention ton all the other hotels. Itâs a pretty affluent community and this hotel was a major let down. Its is being ran into the ground and not maintained properly. Our room for example was not very clean, everything from the air conditioner sounding like a fan blade was ready to let loose, the exhaust fan in the shower/toliet closet has not been cleaned in a long time. The window in the room was glazed over and hard to see out of. The restricted view into the woods from our room showed that exterior of the hotel property was not a priority as there were lots of rotting wood pallets and other debris scattered very close to the property. The bedding appeared that it may have not been cleaned or was just balled up and put back on the bed. This experience led us to cancelling our four night stay and leaving after just one night. We donât recommend this property. One thing I would like to point out is that the Staff was very good to us. They were welcoming and supportive of us leaving. Itâs not the front staffâs fault for this hotel,
