A casual local bar with good food and live music. Located on the Fox River, the Broken Oar has indoor and outdoor seating along with a dock where you can park your boat .

They have live music Thursday -Sunday and most shows don't charge a cover. We went for a 2pm Sunday show and it was awesome. You seat yourself and the servers are amazing. Our server Lilli was very helpful and attentive. We started with a few beverages ( Huge selection with good prices) and had their Smoked Whitefish dip which you don't see much in our area. Mixed with creme cheese, red onion and jalapenos..it tasted fantastic. Served with crostinis, celery and cucumbers.

Also tried their shrimp ceviche with lime marinated shrimp, mango, red onion and jalapenos served with tortilla chips. Very fresh and flavorful.

The only complaint we had was lack of bathroom facilities for the size of the bar.

If you are looking for some great local entertainment and decent bar food, this is definitely a place to visit.

Dining on the Fox is sure to please many as it did us. Outside or in is always a pleasant experience. The food is delicious. We tried the pulled pork Mac, the meatloaf and the chicken salad. The only negative was the meatloaf was cold but everything else was to correct temperature. Dishes were visually appealing. Atmosphere is always great especially during the holidays. We did go at a time where the server was ending their shift but still a pleasant experience all around. Would recommend for their food. Would love to get in there for the entertainment. Go check it out for something new and delicious. Can’t go wrong with some good views of the river.

We went here to see the St. Patrick's day celebrations on March 12. This place is a typical bar along the Fox River, with bar food and beer. They have an enclosed patio area where they have music venues.

Been coming here for years. Great atmosphere! A bit pricey but I suppose that helps pay for the nice entertainment. At this time, it was $5.00 for a draught beer. $15 for a small cocktail. Tried the lobster Mac and cheese for $23. It was ok. Went and saw a friend's band play and met up with some other friends. Always a lot of staff on duty, so seldom have a long wait at the bar. Sporting events on the TV's. I will continue to come here when I want to see a band.

Great food, lots of good music, nice cars and I really enjoyed the boats along the Fox River. That might have been the last day to enjoy the nice weather. Definitely going on my favorite list of car shows an restaurants.

Decent place for live music, so much better in the summer months. There's a tent used in the winter months, but it's often pretty cold inside. The only reason for the deduction of stars is that during every visit for live music, food orders take well over an hour to come out. The servers are great, but they don't appear to have the bandwidth to handle the volume of people that come for larger shows. If you're not a beer drinker, they don't have many options, unless you opt for a mixed drink, which tend to be a bit pricey. Been coming here for years, and will continue to visit, but be aware about the long waits for food and somewhat limited drink options. I'd recommend grabbing a bite to eat before heading over there, and don't hesitate to go in the summer. On a final note, the parking is really challenging at this place. It's tight, and limited. They've added a grassy area to the Far East of the property for additional parking. Get there early, and you should find parking.

Great time listening to live music. Was fun for all some danced and sang with the music group. Was a great atmosphere out of the weather under the top outside. Had a full restaurant upstairs and a menu and bar out where the music stage was. It was great fun if you're looking for a fun time with music!

We ran across this place for the first time a few days ago. Awesome atmosphere and great service. Our only issue was the food - the coke tasted odd (maybe mixed with iced tea), and the kabob plate was really salty. We will definitely give this place another try in a few weeks though.
