This hotel is set off on its own, nestled into a bend of the Chena river, almost on an island, surrounded by beautiful forest. My 23 year old son and I went at the start of January, and the surrounding snow-covered literally all-white landscape was STUNNING (see pics). It felt unreal, like I was on a movie set or in a Christmas special, unlike anything I've seen before. There was frost on the tree trunks so EVERYTHING was white. Granted when we were there it was -30, so I'm sure that helped! Be sure to take the path that leads to the bridge over the river and into the park and amusement park stye village and then town, gorgeous. One of my pics of this area is my phone desktop shot now!||The slight downside of the hotel being off on its own is that there are no restaurants right nearby and none in the hotel itself, but a Wendy's (and a movie theater and other restaurants) are about a 20 minute walk is all, over the river bridge. There's also a convenience market about a 10 minute walk away, in the other direction.||The hotel itself was great, very clean, comfy beds, hot water that lasted the whole time (even in -30 degree weather), lots of vending machines, good breakfast, and everyone on staff was super friendly and helpful. I didn't hear anyone in the other rooms and housekeeping did a great job. When there's aurora activity you can see it from the hotel (saw it one night, went on aurora tours the other nights). The hotel has a great lobby with a fireplace and a nice indoor pool. And all at a reasonable price! Would stay here again for sure, highly recommended!

I stayed here for 4 nights when visiting Fairbanks in March 2025. The staff welcomed me with a smile and greeted me every morning when I came down to the lobby. The room was spacious and clean, plenty of pillows. Plenty of parking. A gym and pool, as well as laundry facilities. I felt very safe as a solo woman traveler.

The best part was the breakfast. It was included in the price of the room and was the best hotel breakfast I have had in my many travels. There was a hot drink machine (complimentary all day) that made coffee, espresso drinks, but also hot chocolate and chai tea. There was a variety of pastries such as muffins and danishes, sliced bread, english muffins, yoghurts and topings such as nuts, chia seeds, chocolate chips... Cereal, 3 different juices, a pancake maker. BUT they also had hot items: fried potatoes or hashbrown, bacon, sausage patties, and eggs (alternating between scrambled/ omelet).

A little cons that is not really a cons, the road to access the hotel, and the hotel parking as well, were not 100% cleared of snow (see photo). Not a problem to me but if you're not comfortable driving on snowy/icy/frozen roads, you might want to take this in consideration. The parking had outlets to plug your car if the temperatures drop.

Overall a great stay for an affordable price and I would stay here again 🙂

Don’t stay here. The location is not close to any amenities. Hotel elevator is extremely slow. Front desk staff not friendly or helpful. Alarm clock did not have a working alarm. Very average quality furniture for a higher than average price. Breakfast included was cold and insulting quality no one would accept if it was not included. Very tight space for seating in the breakfast area and no where to sit and eat when I was there due to large crowd. Heating system made lots of noise and no extra blanket in room to help with the cold. Water pressure is a joke.

Clean, good breakfast. The bed has a super thin comforter. The laundry is $6 a load. They don't have an ATM they said to go to a gas station to get quarters haha.

Absolutely Disgusting & Unsafe

I recently stayed at Best Western Plus Pioneer Park Inn in Fairbanks, and I have never experienced such blatant disregard for health and safety. The pool was not properly cleaned after someone vomited in it, and instead of draining and sanitizing it, the manager, Kenneth, just added chemicals and turned up the temperature, allowing guests to swim in a pool that still had chunks of vomit floating in it.

We had booked a birthday party for 20 people, but we were misled about the pool’s condition and had to cancel last-minute, wasting time and money. Even after I complained, they reopened the pool without fully cleaning it, putting guests at risk.

This is completely unacceptable and unsanitary. If they cut corners on something as obvious as a pool full of vomit, I can only imagine what else they neglect behind the scenes. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere cleaner and more professional.

Spent 4 nights at this hotel on vacation, absolutely delighted with my stay. Had a jacuzzi suite all 4 nights and took advantage of it. Hotel is tucked away on a circle surrounded by trees, very peaceful and quiet. I was happy with the price I paid, especially considering where I was and what I all had in the room.

Staff was pleasant, had zero issues and breakfast was good. Would definitely stay here again if I’m back in town.

Had a good time. Very attentive front desk, rooms were kept clean daily, the indoor pool is heated and open for a lengthy time. Only unfortunate thing was that due to construction that will be completed until April 17-20 breakfast is grab and go with very limited items.
