What a joke! No water pressure , the fan in the bathroom was making an awful sound , got very hot to the touch , did not work as the bathroom floor was so slick after a shower , TV remote did not work , brought us a different. Still didn't work. Uncomfortable bed, heat/ air didn't properly work , room had a funky smell, breakfast was undercooked , and lucky if you were even able to get any food, very skimpy. I have stayed at several BW as I am a reward member, and have stayed at this one a few years ago an it was fine. Not this time! Not worth the money I paid for 2 nights . Will not return. I will say staff was nice.

I’ve stayed at many Best Western locations, and unfortunately, this was by far the worst experience. If you’re a local guest, be aware that they require a $200 deposit (The storm knocked out my power) and in my case, they kept half of it without a valid reason. They claimed there were stains on a washcloth and presented only a vague text message with photos, not even tied to a specific room number. It felt like a tactic to unjustly keep part of the deposit, and I suspect those photos may be reused for other guests as well.

The only reason I left any stars was because the room itself was clean. But the way this situation was handled felt dishonest and unprofessional. Cleanliness alone doesn’t make up for feeling like I was taken advantage of. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

Place has gone downhill. Sink did not drain, shower either hot or cold, no in between. Could hear other rooms till will after midnight. Kids running in hall too. Breakfast was subpar. Curtains did not close properly and couch in room had torn upholstery. Will not be back.

Positive: Location was good Negative: The heat in my room didn?t work. I notified the staff upon checkin, but I went all weekend without heat! The shower was awful and would change from being ok to freezing cold then to scalding hot.

I stayed one night to catch the early morning train. Check-in staff were friendly. Location was very convenient to the train station. Room was below average. Bed was hard. Musty smell. Carpet in need of cleaning. A couple of sketchy looking guests. Overall, the hotel feels very dated. If you're there for the train, spend a little more and upgrade to one of the surrounding establishments.

This is an older place but they're doing a pretty good job keeping it up. My room was very clean and the staff were good. I think it is a good value. I did have an issue during my stay - the lock on my door was faulty and became very frustrating to drop everything upon arrival and spend 5-10 minutes wiggling the door and swiping the card over and over and over until I could finally get into the room. When I mentioned this to staff they insisted all the doors were like that but it sure seemed that my room was worst than most. A maid helped me one day and it took even her several minutes before she could get in. Maybe just avoid room 206.

I was born and raised here in Alton. Moved in 2015 and have been back a handful of times. Typically I stay with family, but for this trip the circumstances just worked better if we got a hotel.

The price was excellent and I figured I'd get what I got for $75 a night.

I was presently surprised.

The rooms are cozy and clean. I mean, again, for $75 a night I wasn't expecting much and it was more than I expected.

The breakfast is what you'd expect from $100-150 a room place. It's good enough. Egg beaters, bacon or sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereal , waffles, etc. - the norm.

Where this place stands out is the genuine, down home, "you are welcome", feel.

While I was here (writing this on our last night), there was a crockpot in the hallway daily with some warm food if you're interested. It was chilly today, potato soup yesterday. That's some down-home make-you-feel-welcome *hit right there.

Great place. If you're boujee - yeah probably not for you. If you appreciate clean and cozy surroundings at a great price in a place that makes you feel welcome... You've found it.

Have stayed here at least 10 times while visiting our son. Pet-friendly, great breakfasts. Very much appreciated personal attention of Manager Casey - she was/is thoroughly professional, competent, and attentive to guest needs!!
