My family and I had a great experience from start to finish at the Best Western Plus Oak Mountain Inn in Pelham, Alabama. I really can’t say enough positive things. One of the first things I noticed was the pleasant smell—which is a big deal to me. I can’t stand stinky hotels, and this one was fresh and clean throughout our stay- in the lobby and in our room.

The staff was excellent. The front desk team was diligent and helpful, and the breakfast staff worked hard to keep everything stocked and clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast and coffee each morning—it was a great way to start the day.

The room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom had plenty of counter space, which I really appreciated. It had all the basic amenities you expect and need in a hotel. The elevator was fast and convenient. The hotel was very busy with many guests, yet our stay was perfectly quiet, unlike other hotels where you can hear what goes on in the hallway, next-door, upstairs, downstairs.

The only minor downside was that the pool was still closed even though the weather was warming up in early April—it doesn’t open until after Labor Day. But that was a small thing compared to how great the overall experience was.

Definitely a five-star stay for us!

A Thoughtful and Peaceful Stay During a Stressful Time

We stayed at the Best Western Plus Oak Mountain Inn on our way to Louisiana from Ontario, and again on the way home. We don’t have a single complaint for either stay. The hotel is easy to get to, welcoming, and clean. They offer a great breakfast with a ton of options. On the way home, we were towing a boat, and they allowed us to park in a well-lit and safe area on the street. We ended up checking out very early in the morning and then ended up having unexpected truck trouble and could not get in to have the truck looked at until later in the day. We went back to the hotel and explained our situation to the front desk and that we had a long 15-hour drive home, and asked if it was possible to get the room back until check out time. What really stood out, though, was the kindness and flexibility of the staff. When we explained our situation, they were incredibly understanding and allowed us back in the room (even though it had already been cleaned) and some extra time to stay past check-out, giving us a safe and comfortable place to rest while we waited for help.

It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality, especially when you're in a tough spot. We’re so grateful for how accommodating they were—it truly made a difference in our trip.

Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a calm, clean, and caring place to stay.

So glad we choose to stay here! The rooms are clean and common areas are too, it smells clean when you walk in. The breakfast bar was actually one of the better ones I've seen and they kept it well stocked for all of breakfast hours. My kids loved their waffle station and the coffe was amazing! The front desk was super friendly and asked how my stay was on check out. I'd definitely stay here again when we are in the area.

We had an outstanding experience at the Best Western Plus in Pelham, AL on March 15, 2025. The hotel was fully booked with guests, including many teen athletes attending a national orienteering competition. That evening, multiple tornado warnings were issued, creating a stressful situation for everyone.

Despite the chaos, the hotel staff and manager went above and beyond to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests. They kept everyone informed, provided guidance on sheltering, and maintained a calm and professional demeanor throughout the night. Their genuine care and outstanding customer service made a challenging situation much easier to handle.

Even beyond the storm, the hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-managed. It was clear that the staff took great pride in their work and truly cared about their guests.

I highly recommend this hotel and want to personally thank the team for their exceptional hospitality and commitment to guest safety. Best Western corporate should be proud of this location and the incredible people who run it!

Very clean rooms. The beds and pillows were the most comfortable I've had at a hotel in over a year. I slept very good. Staff were super nice and helpful. Breakfast was good. Good location with plenty of dining options close by.

Reasonably priced and clean, our experience has been positive. It's a little older and a tiny bit worn but for the price it can't be beat. The air conditioner worked perfectly and the ice machine was close and dispensed plenty of ice. The room had a refrigerator and microwave. Parking is hard to find which is surprising. Located right on the highway.

Stayed here after a Birmingham Barons game went late. Comfortable room, impressive breakfast, attentive staff. Only issue was running out of hot water, but this was a weekend where the hotel was fully booked up because of races in Leeds, so I'm not fussed. EASY access to the interstate and Birmingham without the high price tag.

This hotel is VERY old and it shows. Think basic, banged up paint in paint on paint. While I would say it was clean I was put off by the overwhelming smell something like a Carpet Fresh type scent.
Upon arrival I turned on the sink and a grey oily liquid shot out. I later found out they had been working on pipes. When turning on the shower there was an incredibly high pitched loud whistle that could be heard from the hallway which lasted the length of the sometimes hot shower. It was at this point that we cancelled our stay for the next days. There are no phone charging ports so be prepared to reached behind a bed and maybe find an outlet. The beds reminded me of a crib mattress. The young woman who works the desk was very kind. I wish she didn’t have to contend with issues like this.
