I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Bear Trail Lodge in King Salmon, Alaska, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. If you're a fly fishing enthusiast seeking a top-notch getaway, this lodge should be at the top of your list.

The primary highlight of my trip was undoubtedly the exceptional fly fishing opportunities for both trout and salmon. The lodge's prime location offers access to some of the most pristine fishing spots in Alaska, making it a dream destination for anglers. Throughout my stay, I enjoyed fruitful fishing sessions, reeling in impressive catches that will remain etched in my memory. The expert guides provided by the lodge were not only knowledgeable about the local waters and species, but also genuinely passionate about ensuring a successful and enjoyable fishing experience.

One of the standout features of the Bear Trail Lodge is its commitment to providing a comprehensive and diverse fishing experience. During my stay, I had the chance to embark on four unforgettable fly-out trips. These excursions allowed me to explore a variety of fishing environments, from serene rivers teeming with trout to dynamic waters where salmon put up an exhilarating fight. Each trip was expertly organized and executed, showcasing the lodge's dedication to offering a well-rounded adventure for its guests.

Beyond the exceptional fishing, the lodge's staff played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall experience. From the moment I arrived, I was met with warm and welcoming hospitality. The staff members were not only friendly and accommodating but also genuinely invested in ensuring that every aspect of my stay was enjoyable. Their attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile truly made a difference.

Of course, a memorable fishing trip isn't complete without satisfying meals, and the Bear Trail Lodge certainly delivered on that front as well. The culinary offerings were a delightful surprise, with each meal showcasing fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Whether it was a hearty breakfast to fuel the day's fishing adventures or a delectable dinner to wind down in the evening, the lodge's kitchen consistently delivered mouthwatering dishes that catered to a variety of tastes.

In conclusion, my experience at the Bear Trail Lodge was nothing short of exceptional. The remarkable fly fishing opportunities for trout and salmon, the well-organized fly-out trips, the friendly and attentive staff, and the delicious culinary offerings all combined to create a getaway that exceeded my expectations. If you're seeking an unforgettable fly fishing adventure in the heart of Alaska's wilderness, the Bear Trail Lodge is undoubtedly a destination worth considering.

This was our second year staying here and we love it even more now than we thought was possible! Nanci has done an amazing job creating a warm and welcoming environment for everyone that crosses the threshold into the lodge, regardless of how much or how little fishing experience you have. Her team goes above and beyond to make sure you have the best experience possible. All of the food is amazing and our guides were great company throughout the days. We may be a bit biased but Bryan is definitely our favorite after having him guide us 2 years in a row! The rooms are comfortable and love coming back to a hot shower after a long day on the water. The dogs on the property also made us feel right at home. Can’t wait to come back!

This was my second trip to Bear Trail Lodge and will not be my last. Nanci, Heath and their staff out did themselves to make sure all of our needs were met. I had forgotten how scrumptious the food is and how everyone goes out of their way to make you feel part of the family. We flew out to Katmai and enjoyed our day at Brooks Falls with the bears (this is an experience you should not miss). Our fishing guide Woody was very knowledgeable and helpful. I am already looking forward to next years trip.

I have had the pleasure of hosting trips to Bear Trail Lodge on four occasions, with yet another trip scheduled in 2018. Nanci and Heath have put together a very warm setting that is welcoming to men and women alike. The Staff and Guides are top-notch and you can count on putting on a few pounds during your stay given the quality of the food. The lodge is spotless and you do, in fact, feel very much at home. While the Naknek is a tremendous fishery, fly outs are convenient and the variety of destinations almost guarantees a perfect day on the water. It is noteworthy that fly outs are not necessarily very long, as the Lodge is situated adjacent to some tremendous rivers.

If you live fishing, this trip is for you. Was able to cross off several things in our bucket list - do a fly out fishing, ride a float plane, and an extra perk ( was just lucky) was to go home on a chartered plane all by ourselves! The lodge was week kept, staff were friendly and professional, food was always delicious and we were more than well fed! The owners Nanci and Heath were very hands on all though our stay! We spent 3 days fishing at the Nushugak River and the fish were biting a lot! Needless to say we had a great time that we even reserved Our dates for 2023 to see the bears and fish for silvers!

We had the opportunity to fish and stay with Bear Trail. Nancy and Heath have stacked their team with the best. From the two or them, to the guides, to the chef and to the house keeping staff. This was by far the best fishing trip I have taken. They take such pride in their treatment of their clients I was amazed. Their wasn’t a detail they missed or over looked. Very accommodating to any special needs we may have had. Our guide Wesley did a GREAT job getting us onto fish. He was very knowledgeable and worked the river and the boat really well to keep us where we needed to be to catch fish. I would HIGHLY recommend this lodge and will visit them again.

We recently visited Bear Trail Lodge as part of our honeymoon in Alaska and were absolutely blown away. The lodge is set in the most incredible setting within the Katmai National Park, with wonderful views of the Naknek river.

We stayed for two nights, spending one day at the awesome Brooks Falls to watch the bears on the salmon run. To get to Brooks Falls the lodge arranged for us to fly in a sea plane to the park area which was wonderful in itself.

We had no plans for our second day, so we went with one of the lodge guides (Ryan) out fishing for our first ever fishing experience. It was amazing! I had never considered fishing as an activity before, but it was so much fun. The lodge expertly prepared our catch, which we flew with us frozen all the way back to the UK.

The food and drink in the lodge is delicious, with a great friendly atmosphere. And the hot-tub - what a view. On our last afternoon we watched a mummy bear and her three cubs swim the river outside the hotel while we relaxed in the hot-tub. Perfect.

I can't recommend Bear Trail Lodge enough. A truly unique honeymoon experience. Thank you!

Just returned from a week of serious fishing at Bear Trail Lodge. The whole week was awesome. Nancy and Heath gets the details right from the fly out logistics to the morning coffee. Guides were great with our beginners and our more experienced fly fishers. Each night we discussed what we wanted to do and they found just the right place for each group. Rooms are roomy and comfortable. Food was first rate. Location is perfect for accessing a variety of great water. Big rivers to small streams. Definitely heading back.
