Just spent three months in cabin #3 during a travel work assignment. It was perfect for me; very cozy! And location wise, close to town but far enough away to enjoy the added quietness. I value my privacy and like to be alone, so despite it being a community of several cabins, i had the quiet solitude i desired they way the cabins are spaced out. The owners were helpful, kind and when it came to problem solving to make my stay more comfortable, they were accommodating to the requests i made and offered solutions. In the cabin i stayed in, i had plenty of amenities to make my long term stay comfortable with a stove, full bathroom, exta space, tv with wifi. It was clean. The neighborhood is pretty with many roads to take walks on and see Alaskas beauty within steps. (Bring bear spray just incase!) The property is filled with tall pine trees that smell so good; when a clear night came the sky is so pretty looking up at the stars through the trees. Theres a firepit onsite, laundry on-site. She offered up hiking trail options and gave me intell i appreciated. If youre a hiker, i suggest Tonsina Trail at a must visit. That became my local go to trail and i hiked it many times all kinds of different weather. Completely in awe at Alaska's beauty. Hope to stay again in the future!! Thank you 🙂

We had such a lovely stay! The cabin was fully equipped with everything you could need. It was cozy, clean, and adorable. Our check-in/out process was smooth, and the hosts were so lovely and accommodating. The cabin was in a great location, just a couple of minutes' drive from Seward. Lovely stay and would definitely come back!

First time in Seward and won't be my last. Decided to stay here because it said they were newly remodeled and I'm glad I took a chance. We stayed in Hunter's Hideaway. It was a one bedroom with an additional loft. We had two queen beds, a full private bath and a full kitchen. The property is still thawing out but it is beautiful. The owners live on site and love showing you around, sharing their future plans. They were amazing about giving us tips on restaurants and tours, even gave us discount codes for some trips! We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Salmon Shack at Bear Necessities Cottages for three nights in late August. The place was exactly what we needed. It was like a small studio with a cozy bed, fold out breakfast table, kitchen nook, and bathroom. The location was perfect for us for visiting Steward but staying in the woods rather than downtown. We'd stay again in a heartbeat.

My family and I stayed in the Moose cabin for 2 nights (tweens aged 13 and 14) while we enjoyed Seward. (2 bedrooms, 1 bath, kitchen/living area) The cabin is well decorated and very clean and had all the necessary kitchen items for us to enjoy breakfast and warming up things in the microwave for lunch. Beds were comfortable and bedding was cute that matched the theme of the cabin...moose 🙂 My kids enjoyed the bunk beds and it was nice to have access to a TV for some downtime before sleep. Cynthia's response time was impeccable and she even navigated and booked a tour (with a discount!) for our family with Kenai Fjords boat company which we highly recommend. We struggled with the hot water with our first shower but Cynthia replied immediately to our response and told us how to remedy it and after that we didn't have any problems. The property is very wooded.... with tall mature pine trees. We didn't use the camp fire space but there is a nice fire ring that is accessible. There were apparently bears that visited the property at night but we didn't see any and felt safe. Would recommend bear spray just in case though. It is just about a 10 minute drive from the adorably cute town of Seward. Highly recommend a visit to this water town while you are in Alaska. The scenery and shopping in little local shops and eateries are all lovely. The only negative, and one other reviewer noted this and it is certainly not controllable by Cynthia, is the only bathroom is through the master bedroom. Slightly inconvenient but not something that can necessarily be fixed. Thanks for our stay Bear Necessities!

Let me start by saying this property and our hosts far exceeded any expectation that we might have had for our trip!

The property was minutes away from downtown Seward but far enough away for us to feel completely secluded and at peace during our stay. Our cabin was small yet perfectly sized for a single traveler or couple looking to get away for a couple of days (or weeks)! It was impeccably clean and our hosts truly thought of everything we could possibly want or need when it came to amenities! Our space included a fully stocked kitchenette, plenty of linens, extra blankets, and a personal heating/cooling system that was easily controlled and kept us comfortable throughout our stay.

Cynthia and Shawn were knowledgeable about the area and eager to provide recommendations for local eateries and sightseeing. Some of the highlights of our trip included skiing at nearby Alyeska and doing the wildlife boat tour in Seward.

I cannot recommend Bear Necessities enough!

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway and absolutely loved it! Its in an amazing location and super quiet and relaxing. The owners were amazing and very down to earth. They were very helpful in finding fun things to do in seward, and seemed to know some of the best spots. The cabins were cute and cozy, the bed was comfortable and clean. We plan on staying here alot in the summer when fishing season opens up because its close to the fishing hole, and affordable! Definitely 2 thumbs up!

I stayed at Bear Necessities Cottages for 2 nights after a ski trip.||I wanted to see some of the local wildlife and immerse myself into the local community for a couple days while I was in town. Both of those boxes were checked during my stay. There are fun local dives to check out in town and plenty of excursions available to book as well.||The hosts were very accommodating and the cabin I stayed in was the perfect size for 1 or 2 people. They had some larger cabins available as well if you have more people in your group. It had a full kitchen set, fridge and a heater that made it easy to regulate the temperature in the room. It was a very clean and comfortable experience. I would stay here again.||If you are looking for a quality place to stay while you are in town and get an authentic experience while there, you need to book a stay at Bear Necessities
