Bear Country Lodge is a fantastic place to stay! Bob and Joanie keep the place stocked with everything you might need (including bear spray!) and are very helpful. They have a great guest book full of resources for fishing and hiking in the area, and the view is spectacular. The property manager even brought us fresh caught salmon fillets when we expressed an interest in trying some! If you're visiting Cordova I cannot recommend Best Country Lodge enough!

We stayed in a beautiful place right on Eyak Lake. It was nicely decorated and was pretty cozy. The towels and bedding were very nice. Our kitchen was big and had everything we needed. I would recommend this place if you need a place to stay in Cordova. It's just as much as a hotel room and it's a better place to stay.

A wonderful place with the warmest hosts you can imagine. If you want to get to know the real Alaska, then definitely stay at Bear Country Lodge. You will never forget your time there nor the view.

I’ve stayed at this cabin three times, and it has my vote for best lodging in Cordova. I️ travel throughout Alaska for business, and this is an excellent home away from home with an awesome view of the lake that is quiet. Bob and Joanie are very welcoming hosts and have thought of providing all the little odds and ends that make their cabin so comfortable to stay at.

We stayed here 3 nights and were then stranded when our ferry was cancelled. Our Cabin (#2) was a palace compared to some of the other lodging that is available in the area, and at a much better rate! A few minutes from town but right on the water, we had a great view of Eyak lake (couldn't see the mountains due to the rain storm). Full eat-in kitchen with a living room, cable and WiFi for those of you who don't know how to relax and 2 BR provides plenty of space for extended stays. Owner is a local and very knowledgable of the area.

I have stayed in both cabins. They are both well appointed, though the smaller one has quite a bit less kitchen space. Both have a full complement of pots, pans, and utensils. Be prepared to wake up to one of the best views available, regardless of season. Both cabins are right on Eyak Lake and look across to the mountains. They are located at 5 mile, so it is a bit of a ride into town, a beautiful ride. The owners are very friendly and can usually meet any needs.

Arrived in Cordova for the 2011 High School Graduation. Stayed for 3 days and 4 Nights at Bear Country Lodge and Wow what a breathtaking place. The cabin was beautifully ornamental with that wildness attire with mounted antlers and games heads. The place was very clean with a full kitchen with utensils/plates, pots, glass, etc. The cabin also had cable TV and wireless internet. ||We were very comfortable in about a 1600 sq ft living space; the place was kept in excellent condition having one full bathroom with towels and soap. Two bedrooms with Queen Size beds. The room where decorated with a warm country fashion with quilts and lovely painting by the owner. ||The view from our main window overlooking the mountains/lake on a clear sunny day, with many sorts of birdlife, Swan, Canadian geese, ducks. Overall I really enjoy my stay at Bear Country Lodge and will return in the future. This place is highly recommended you cannot loose. It’s a home away from home and makes a romantic place to be if you are just seeking the stillness of the country.

My family rented both houses for a just over a week for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time. ||The facilities were clean and the owners very responsive and accommodating. Definitely returning. And who couldn't when you wake up right on Eyak lake.
