It's easy to say wonderful things about Avery On Prospect Hill. The location is steps away from the main tourist areas of Galena. The host is incredibly knowledgeable, has a fantastic, wry sense of humor, and is respectful to the extreme. The house is in perfect shape and much better attuned to modern conveniences than most B&Bs. I particularly enjoyed the back porch and gazebo in the backyard, filled with hummingbirds, rabbits, and squirrels. It made doing work email much easier!

There are plenty of options for a Bed and Breakfast in Galena, and I can’t imagine a better experience anywhere than we had. Bob and Cherish were the most welcoming of hosts and have a beautiful home in a great location.

Our room and bed were clean and comfortable, Bob’s breakfast was delicious, and Cherish’s sweet touch of a candy bar provided a treat when leaving and returning.

Not only would I stay at Avery on Prospect Hill again, I will recommend it to my family and friends. A truly first-class experience with wonderful hosts in a beautiful home.

What a wonderful find! We wanted to get away for a quiet weekend in Galena and happened upon the Avery wile doing a little research on the area. This was our fist trip to Galena and Bob and Cherish made it even better. The rooms are quaint, with classic charm, extremely comfortable bedding and only a 5-7 minute stroll to Main St. Do ask for recommendations, as they know the restaurants well. Also, Bob loves to cook, as you will quickly learn when you smell the Breakfast at 9AM sharp and the fresh cookies daily at 3:30! Bob is also very accommodating with any special requests or food allergies. They also have a stocked Candy Bar, for those late night cravings! Again, wonderful find and stay. I highly recommend!

The house is lovely and Bob and Cherish are wonderful people. They are pleasant hosts and fun to talk to. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. We stayed in Lydia and I would do so again. I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of all the guest rooms and they all are very clean and comfortable. They have great wi-fi, some free streaming services, and the candy jars are a special treat. They also have a separate room upstairs by the guest rooms with a small fridge, a Keurig with a large assortment of coffees & teas, a hot and cold water dispenser and a microwave. ||Bob makes a plated breakfast every day so make sure you share any dietary restrictions. The first day was an egg casserole with veggies and ham and his fried potatoes with onions. The second day was a french toast casserole with thick cut bacon and the last day was crepes and sausages. All the food was wonderful and kept us full until dinner.||The location of the guest house is perfect since it is a very easy walk to main street. Parking on their street was easy and it was so nice to be able to walk to the shops and restaurants. ||We will happily stay there again in the future.

After traveling through Galena when going to Chicago and saying this would be a fun place to stop, we finally made a two day stay for our 45th anniversary. This B and B is two blocks from the Main Street of Galena but very peaceful. Hosts, Bob and Cherish are wonderful. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and the freshly made breakfasts in the morning are delicious. They will keep you full right up to supper time. Return early to the house to enjoy their beautiful porch with a cup of coffee, tea or water all graciously available from Bob and Cherish. Highly recommend a stay at the Avery!

Excellent stay! The location was within walking distance of downtown, as well as other historic sights (Belvedere Mansion, Washburne house and Grant's house). Extremely clean, cozy, delicious breakfasts each morning (we stayed 2 nights and experienced one savory and one sweet breakfast). Beds were comfortable, lots of amenities provided (candy bar, games, movies, coffee and tea 24/7, fresh baked cookies, Disney+, Netflix, Hulu). A wonderful back porch area we enjoyed in the evening. Bob and Cherish are just the right mixture of inviting and friendly, without being intrusive. We knew we could easily reach them if needed, but only saw them in the mornings for light & casual conversation at breakfast. They're also a great resource for things to do, places to eat, etc. I would 100% recommend staying here!

I have nothing but great things to say about Todd, Candy, and the wonderful B&B they own in Galena. The Avery House was beautiful, comfortable, clean, and welcoming. Todd and Candy went above and beyond to make my fiance and I feel like family. This was our first B&B experience and it's going to be one that is very hard to beat. Candy's cooking was top notch. Having our delicious breakfast outside on the back porch with the great scenery was one of our favorite moments during our time there. We would recommend Avery on Prospect Hill Guest House to anyone and everyone.

We absolutely loved our stay! The owners were so welcoming and accommodating to all. They really pay attention to details all around the house and add in their own personal touches with a candy bar, complimentary water, coffee, tea 24/7, games in the shared common room, wine glasses available, mini fridge, 420 friendly (outdoors), etc. They have a beautiful backyard with a cozy gazebo. We stayed in the “Lydia” Room and it was so clean, comfortable, and spacious. The bed was amazing and was very well kept. The breakfast was super delicious. The owner cooked the food in the morning and supplied coffee, water, and OJ to go along with it. We couldn’t have asked for a better time here at the Avery Guest House Bed and Breakfast. Definitely want to come back soon!
