I've been going to Cindy for almost 2 years now, and I basically refuse to go anywhere else. We moved out of Olney, and I still drive an hour back to see her. I have dealt with trigeminal nerve pain and TAC headaches for the past 4 years, and seeing Cindy once a month has helped immeasurably. Every massage therapist I had been to before was either only used to doing "self care/spa" type appointments (not necessarily meant for actual pain relief) or were extremely "heavy handed" despite me explaining that my nerve pain makes me more sensitive than others to things like trigger points.

Cindy does an amazing job paying attention to things like my breathing and my tension level, and does not hesitate to back off when I'm in too much pain. She makes sure to either be talking or keep a hand on me at all times during the massage, so that I always know where she is. She also tailors every massage to fit my current needs, and suggests things that might benefit me but I might not know I need. I have seen many places offer things like hot stones or gua sha, but they are always "add ons" that you have to select when you schedule the appointment--you have to know in advance that you want them. Cindy offers this, but also will just DO them sometimes if she thinks you could benefit from them because not everyone knows what they are or if they will help.

She also pays attention to whether or not it seems like I'm in a talkative mood. She loves to talk and listen to whatever I have going on, but also has no issues going silent if it seems like I just need a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.

I started scheduling appointments here because it was the only place in the area that I could schedule online and manage my own appointment. It seems like such a little thing, but when one of my kids gets sick in the middle of the night, and I know I need to reschedule, it's so much easier to be able to do it right then, not having to wait for business hours and not having to make one more phone call on top of work, school, bus barn, doctor's office. I can just go through the link in my email and shift my appointment to another date/time that Cindy has posted. The thing is, though, if calling on the phone is easier for you, you can do that too! You don't HAVE to schedule/reschedule online unless that's what works for you.

Cynthia is awesome!! She takes time and listens to what you need, so you get a customized massage every time. I’ve been going to her for years and will keep going for years to come! If you have any sore muscles, give her a call, you won’t regret it!

I came to Olney Massage after a bad experience at a chiropractor left me in more pain but afraid to go back to another chiro to try to fix it. I’d gone to massage therapists before over the years, but none of them were still practicing in the area—so I did a Google search for massage in Olney and found Cynthia Given. And I’m eternally grateful for that.

Cynthia, who near-immediately told me to call her Cindy, is one of the most thorough and skilled massage therapists I’ve had the fortune to meet. My first appointment with her started with time set aside for her to get health information and background from me, which set me at ease—she didn’t just expect me to ditch my clothes and hop up on the table. I felt like she took the time to get to know who I was and what I needed before we began our first session.

The private massage room and massage table are comfortable and inviting, and Cindy takes care to create a relaxing and aesthetically pleasing environment in which to work her magic. The massage itself was one of the best I’d ever had, and Cindy was incredibly considerate of any discomfort on my end. She was also a pleasure to talk to, if you’re one of those people who like to talk instead of fall asleep during your massage. 🙂

I left that first day feeling so much better and more relaxed—not healed yet, but well on my way. In only a few more sessions, I was back to my old self, and Cindy deserves full credit. I now make sure to schedule at least one session per month (the 80-minute massage is the best; trust me, I started with 60 minutes but have never looked back!) to make sure I keep my back and neck from getting to knotted up with stress. Cindy never disappoints. Do yourself a favor, and schedule a session—your entire body will thank you!
