This inn is great if you want space and an easy check-in. They send you a code and you can check-in at any time. The rooms have a living room and kitchen. It feels like an actual apartment!

A few reviews mentioned the train noise. I'm used to loud city noises so I thought it would be ok but it's literally a train coming through multiple times an hour nearby and they just lay on their horn constantly all night. It is crazy loud. I would not have been able to sleep without ear plugs and even then, I can still hear it.

The location is also alright and quiet otherwise. If you want to stay closer to downtime, you might want a different location.

Attractive and well-maintained place and great value very close to downtown (easily walkable). Don't listen to any of the reviews talking about safety of the area unless you are a suburbanite that is used to your perfect little bubble. It's just fine and pretty much what you expect in a fairly-urban area. Materials provided for breakfast were actually better than expected. Only issue we had was the queen bed in our room. Clearly a broken box spring so one side of the bed was quite uncomfortable. Other than that, the Arctic Fox is exactly as-advertised.

Anchorage is an expensive place and the Arctic Fox Inn represents good value for money and a good level of comfort with plenty of room. A clean and well-maintained property, we had Apt. 5 which was well appointed and spacious (though the sofa does need replacing and the mattress is getting on a bit too). There is some noise from outside activity but really not enough to stop you getting sleep and the area appears down-at-heel but certainly NOT dangerous. An easy 15-20 mins from the train station and the centre of town, this place is well located and is better than some of the nearby hotels. There is no breakfast offered anymore (in keeping with most places in North America) and whilst the remote check in is efficient, there is no easy way to communicate with the owners. We had a problem with our lock (our fault, we were too quick in pushing the door rather than waiting for 30 seconds for the mechanism to automatically unlock) when I phoned the emergency number, I was put through to voice mail giving me another number to phone - unfortunately, I had no pen and paper ready. When I phoned again, there was no reply. E-mail requests went unanswered too. This could cause a problem. Still, we enjoyed our stay here and would certainly recommend it over nearby hotels.

IMPORTANT: I stayed with family in June 2024 Safety Concerns: Regrettably, the property is situated in an unsafe area. As a guest, safety is paramount, and this aspect requires immediate attention.
Inaccurate Information and Uncomfortable Conditions: Furthermore, the property information and photos provided on Expedia do not align with the actual conditions. The living area is notably small, the sofa bed appears old and unclean, and the beds are uncomfortable. These discrepancies impact the overall quality of the stay.

Feels like the good reviews are just made-up ones and are not true experiences.

We recommend the Arctic Fox. Convenient to the train station and a short walk to downtown where we caught the trolley tour. The room, unit E , was perfect, comfortable bed and ensuite bathroom. The free light breakfast was perfect for getting our day started. The host was very accommodating with holding our luggage until we left for the airport. More intimate than a hotel , we enjoyed our experience. Clean and organized.

This B & B has some issues. I did not realize when I booked it that it would be a completely remote check in. Seemed like only housekeepers were round. The stairway up one floor to the 9 guest rooms was incredibly narrow. I was traveling 2 weeks and my bag barely fit. You enter through a kitchen/dining area and realize that, as noted elsewhere, breakfast would be basic coffee/tea, oatmeal, bagels and apples/bananas. I did not partake in breakfast. The room was an adequate size and the bathroom was clean/updated. The mattress was soft but not super soft. I agree with others that the TV was difficult to work. What really disturbed me were the room hollow doors seemingly purchased at a large box hardware store. You could hear the slightest noise outside in the hall. Their thinness, combined with the remote entry/lack of onsite staff, does not make one feel secure. Especially when, again noted previously, this is not in the best of neighborhoods. AFI can not control the houseless in the blocks around them but it is not at all a comforting feeling to walk by it to get to the B & B.

Friendly host who allowed an early check in since the space was available. My apt was clean, quiet and very comfortable. I slept very well. The location is close enough to walk to restaurants. It also has space for your rental car. Lots to do in the area. The unit has a full kitchen, spacious bathroom, sofa and dinette table if you choose to cook or bring food. I advise picking up water, juice and snacks on your way in before check in. Lots of storage space if needed. Luxurious towels, and the thickest and nicest floor rug. For those who wear makeup- please bring makeup remover towels. The owners request you do not use their towels to remove makeup. I understand their requests. The towels are great and unstained. If I'm back in the area I would choose their location.
