This was a wonderful time with the family. Fishing was kinda slow, I heard they have a lot of fishing tourneys here, may be the reason or my inexperience.. The cabins were clean, the beds are horrible but who's sleeping right.... lol. My wife caught her first, the biggest and the last fish... my boys caught fish also..me not at all,( helping wife and kids). We all had a great time, came during the week so it wasn't that busy. Friday came and so did the congestion and noise. All and all we will be back. Front desk ladies are helpful and nice. Would highly recommend.

Overall, this is a cool place to stay. The lake, however, has an odd set of restrictions. It took some fun out of the trip.

Cozy places (stayed in 1, 2, 3).
Friendly people staying there.
Beautiful view.

Cons:
Beach access is a little gross/needs care.
Inadequate kitchen accessories.
Lake restrictions.
Boat rental in rough shape.

I would suggest Anthony Acres post the lake rules prominently on their website to help stave off any future disappointments from patrons expecting a different experience.

The lake is beautiful and the "cabins" are all right on the lake, and are pretty reasonably priced. I stayed in an older room, with some pretty rugged furniture, but the bedding was clean. The towels were a bit worn, and they did not exchange the dirty towels out for clean ones when I put them out like instructed. I'd recommend staying in one of the newer units. There are plenty of docks to the lake and the fish appeared to be biting.

We had a great stay at Anthony Acres Resorts July 3rd this year. It was the perfect place to view the fireworks over Lake Sara. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. It was nice having our own picnic table on the porch with a ceiling fan over it and our own grill. A fun, laid back place to relax with the family.

We had a conference in Effingham IL and we were looking for affordable lodging for 1 evening. We had 4 Travelers and wanted to each have our own space. We had talked to Hotels and they were just not fitting the bill of what we wanted out of the weekend. We had drove to the lake a few weekends prior and found Anthony Acres, They let us go into the rooms and check them out and see what suited us best. The Cabin we chose was a 3 Bedroom, 1 Bath set up. It was clean and perfect for our group. The Porch area in the back was perfect for sitting and eating and then we started a fire and sat around it and chatted throughout the evening. IT was a PERFECT little getaway at an affordable price. We will be back in July of this year for our next conference.

What A joke! Bad business practice. Beware if you book here and need to cancel, this place will steal your money, claiming to have a 45 day cancellation policy to get a refund! They charged us full price and had the room booked with another guest for the same date I had to cancel. Greed is the best word to describe their business. The resort lost no money by our cancelation, they TRIED TO MAKE DOUBLE! Thankfully our credit card company refunded us the entire amount. After speaking to Sandy several times and her hanging up on us, we disputed the charges. No, I would not recommend reservations at this resort period. 😒

Newly renovated. Nice people. They treated me with respect and it's in a nice location on the lake. Docks have power wired to them. Close to town. The lake is great fishing. Rooms are cozy. Beds were not the most comfy, but did the job.

My husband's and I new go to spot for our anniversary! Beautiful views from the rooms. Awesome fishing. Able to rent Jon boats and pontoon boats. Just an overall relaxing experience every time.
