My husband and I stayed in Sitka for 4 days after returning from a wonderful Alaska Dream Cruise. Sitka is a good town for walking and we selected Annahootz B&B for its central location at the edge of the Sheldon Jackson campus and about a block from the Crescent Harbor. Both the Totem Park and downtown Sitka are easy walks and there is a grocery store a couple of blocks away.||Annahootz has two suites with private entrances and fit our needs perfectly. , It was clean, quiet and comfortable. The suite was like an apartment with a bedroom, full bath, living room with a good sized TV and kitchenette with coffee maker, microwave, small refrigerator and dishes. Cathy and Dale provided more than adequate amounts of food (yoghurt, fresh fruit, cereal, milk, juice, pastries) for breakfast so we could eat on our own time schedule. ||Having separate rooms turned out to be really important as we both had developed coughs and on some nights it was helpful not to wake the other person. Being sick in a new town is less than fun but our experience was eased a great deal knowing that Cathy and Dale were willing to help when needed. In fact, Dale twice gave us rides to the Sitka ER for medical advice ||Between the rain and illness, we didn’t see as much of Sitka as we had wanted to. It is a beautiful town and much less ‘cruise ship touristy’ than the other SE cities. If we come back to visit again, our first choice of lodging will be the Annahootz.

Annahootz is convenient, five minutes walk from the outstanding Sheldon Jackson Museum, ten minutes from downtown in one direction or Totem Park in the other. The hosts are interesting and pleasant. The room, actually two rooms, are spacious, although suitable only for two. (The sitting room sofa is too short for even someone just barely 5 ft tall.) Breakfast; small boxes of dried cereal, small cans of oj, bananas and apples; all of which one prepares for oneself. Not what we're used to in a B&B.

I really enjoyed my stay in Sitka. The breakfast was a nice selection of items that I could enjoy at my leisure. The suite was clean and comfortable. This B and B is a close walk to downtown Sitka, Totem Park and a boat harbor. I've stayed here multiple times and look forward to future visits.

Sadly, they have not answered emails nor telephone calls /msg. in the winter for an upcoming summer reservation request. Looks like a great place, but their communication is seriously lacking. Summer season is short & busy. I realize how important it is to book early.
