Well-Appointed Hotel with a Stunning View of the Mississippi River

Eagle’s Nest Penthouse

Hospitality:

The spacious suite includes a large kitchen and seating area attached to a balcony with a panoramic view of the Mississippi river and the town of Alton. The rooms are well-appointed with decor to match the historic location. Many household amenities are included as well as a washer and dryer. The larger bedroom includes a relaxing air tub.

Service:

The owner, Mike Kelly, answered my request to make a reservation immediately. He made the booking process very easy. Check in and check out were all communicated through text messaging with keyless access so I could come and go as convenient.

Housekeeping:

The area was well-maintained and tidy with an open floor plan that made it very comforting.

Atmosphere:

This was my first trip to Alton and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere on the river. The penthouse was very comfortable and made a great home away from home. The building is located near the casino and the square and many downtown attractions are within walking distance.

Conclusion:

I cannot give a higher recommendation for the Alton Cracker Factory if you are staying in Alton, Illinois. The historic location offers a great ambiance and the view of the river and the surrounding community is exceptional. The management really made my reservation and the entire stay very pleasant.

Was down for college baseball championship series and stayed here. One of the best places I’ve stayed. The location, amenities and scenery was absolutely phenomenal. The host was one of the best hosts I’ve dealt with and was available at anytime. A pure pleasurable week. I would highly recommend cracker factory. The lofts were nicely appointed and luxurious. Thank you for the awesome experience of staying in your place.

On the outside, the Cracker Factory doesn’t look like much - a nondescript brick building that housed the Kendall Steam Cracker Company back in 1864. But inside, we discovered one of the most beautifully and thoughtfully renovated environments we’ve ever encountered.|Gleaming hardwood floors, old exposed brick walls and massive wooden beams. The rooms are called suites, but they’re far more spacious that typical hotel suites. More like loft apartments, really - all with sweeping views of the Mississippi River from the balcony.|The Alton Cracker Factory is one of the nicest, best equipped and most comfortable places we’ve ever stayed - yet our suite was comparably priced with a much smaller chain hotel room. We hated to check out and will absolutely be back again.

We had a fantastic evening watching fireworks. The owner, Mike, went out of his way to make sure we were doing OK with larger than we expected crowd on the patio. It was definitely a great experience and would consider doing it again. Thanks for a fantastic experience.

Simply stunning. The rooms are spacious, accommodating, comfortable, and have incredible views. There was original hardwood in our room, and it was beautiful! I also heard a yoga studio is slated to be constructed on the downstairs level. That would be so well-favored! The host was also very kind and professional. 10/10 - highly recommend!

I stayed in the Piasa Suite for three nights in mid-September. This is a marvelous place to stay. The suite is very comfortable and well thought-out. Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout. And it was impeccably clean! From the quality of the kitchenware to the furnishings and storage space, it is clear that Mike, the owner, put his full creative efforts into making guests comfortable. And I loved the deck and river view!

I had a chance to look in at the Eagle’s Nest penthouse on the top floor: It would be an excellent stay for a larger group, and would suit perfectly for a reception or other social gathering.

Upfront: I learned that Mike and I share our alma mater, the U.S. Naval Academy, as well as having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
