This place has the most amazing shrimp pasta I've ever had! I will come back here time and time again. The waitress was sweet and friendly and extremely helpful! If you're ever here request Kate! If you love shrimp pasta this is one of the best places to go!! Shrimp fest is so amazing!

We had an exceptional dining experience at Al's Cafe from the appetizer (Crab Cakes), dinner, and dessert. Not only were the entrees properly prepared and delicious, they were presented wonderfully.

Super cozy place. It gives off a classic vintage American diner atmosphere. My friends and I got shakes and malts all of which were very delicious and were very filling. I would go back and want to try the food next time, because we saw some people get theirs and it all looked so yummy. The prices were super reasonable too and the kind lady who served us was so warm. Can't wait to go back.

This place is a treasure! I’ve been here a few times now and haven’t been disappointed. The Salmon Mediterranean is outstanding and full of flavor. And ice cream sundaes and malts are by far the best around. I’ve been in and around Elgin for 20 plus years and yet didn’t experience Al’s until recently. The service is also excellent, something that is rare these days. This place is destination restaurant/ice cream shop. Highly, highly recommend.

Attended a dinner & show performance of Every Brilliant Thing. What a WONDERFUL evening! The food was tasty, comforting, and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was cozy. The service was incredible.

Then the show, my goodness! Top level performance and an incredibly unique and intimate theatrical experience.

I hope they do more events like this!

We arrived after the Symphony Concert. Reservations are recommended. However the hostess graciously rechecked her bookings and upstairs seating and offered us a beautiful table in a bay window. We were a party of 4 and ordered a variety of items. Good price range. We were all pleased with our food from the Blue Cheese Burger to shrimp appetizer and specialty meals. Service was great and relaxing. We truly felt welcomed and not rushed. We will return.

AL’s is a great spot to get a bite to eat! The burgers and shake are a match made in heaven 🙂 had the Swiss mushroom burger and the blue cheese one also! The fries are perfect to dip in the shake also 😉 I will forsure be back to try it again in the summer
