Thank you Brandon for bringing me the bomb.com pies! Omg I love sweet potato pie and cheese cake and this is both in one slice! Rich delicious but not too sweet and they aren’t stingy with the pecans! Love this place! And I love it’s in Compton I’m In carson so this being local it’s super perfect!

Customer service was great. I ordered the fried catfish entree. It came with 4/5 pieces of catfish (large pieces) and 3 sides. I got Mac and cheese (very dry not enough seasoning), greens (bland no seasoning at all and it tasted kind of dirty), steamed rice which is regular rice without seasoning (should have gotten gravy) and corn bread( I don’t eat corn bread so I’m not sure how that tasted).
My friend got smothered turkey chops (fire), Mac and cheese (she said it was ok), candied yams (too sweet) and cabbage ( I don’t think she ate the cabbage) and cornbread. She got a fruit punch kool aid or juice whatever it was and I got raspberry lemonade (both were very sweet and syrupy). I only have a picture of mine!

This little place tucked away in a small strip mall delivers big time. I had the catfish, mac/cheese, redbeans / rice and peach cobbler.. The portions were sufficient and everything was flavorful. Staff was very nice and helpful and I met Alma. I'll return for more!

The best catfish I’ve ever had and one of the best Mac n cheese and potato salads I’ve ever had!! Brandon is a gracious host and Alma is so awesome. I need to try other food items, parking is right out front! Yummy food.

Alma's deserves all of their 5 star reviews!! I ordered the Turkey chop lunch special for $15 and everything tasted amazing! I've never had a Turkey chop but I feel like it's a perfect swap out if you're no longer eating pork! My sides were Mac and red beans and rice, both were delicious! Next time I'm in the area and craving soul food, I'll come try other menu items!

This was like pulling up to your grandma house the place is lovely the staff is too.
I got the shrimp and grits the whole thing was balanced. cheese, shrimp, bell peppers, onion and spices. A side of eggs completed it. For dinner I got turkey chops red beans n rice, greens, mac n cheese, and yams. I feel sleep in my chair with a full belly like a grandpa🤣 it was a truly great experience even the customers feel like cousins. Ill be back Sundays at least twice a month got my next order written down. Go by and show your love. Don't sleep on the drinks and deserts. Truly food for your soul.

Very cute inside! Has a cozy, home vibe and very nicely decorated. The employee was a young man who was very nice and patient with customers who had questions about the menu.

I ordered the lunch special. Fried catfish (3 big pieces), Mac and cheese, cabbage, cornbread and a drink for $15. The sides were good but also could've used some more seasonings. The catfish was fried a little too much, for my liking, but was seasoned well. They also have a good selection of yummy desserts. Overall I say give it a try, next time you want some soul food. The $15 lunch special is a great deal

I love to support locally family own businesses. Specifically soul, food restaurants I’ll pay more money because the quality I expect of the food the flavoring I’m willing to wait longer times and pay more but it’s hard to do that when the attitude is so horrible. Today I have the smothered pork chops. They were excellent the greens. They were four out of five but for me and Dan it was downhill cornbread Trash they might as well go to get some jiffy and it would taste better than that. The cabbage no seasoning the red beans, and rice Also not worth mentioning. My bill was $42 for smothered pork chops rice three sides and then out of that was a nine dollars for the peach cobbler, which was a little high, but I don’t mind but what really kind of irritated me what I ask him can you take out half of the peach cobbler of the container and heated up and another container not made out of plastic Like a to go box or they have some cardboard trays and I said can you heat it up on the cardboard tray and they said oh that would be an extra dollar at the end. I just told him give me a refund on my peach cobbler and I was told by one of the workers oh she doesn’t give refunds. So I had to educate her on California law I will be getting a refund. Even after I asked for the refund, they brought the peach cobbler back out to me cold in the plastic container and didn’t say a word. Just dropped it off at the table and walked away. I had to ask two more times And they said oh when she gets a minute to come from the kitchen. About five minutes later when we were leaving, I went up to the counter. I would never eat there again and I would not suggest anyone else patronize this establishment until they get a better attitude. In another review, a customer wrote about similar problems. She stated Popeyes is right across the driveway here the food is not as good and the quantities aren’t as big. Why don’t you go eat there. Am I response to that is at least at Popeyes you get the full piece of the wing not broken off pieces counted as too. And Ashley, she would be better off Ordering some Popeyes and serving with herself until she learned how to season up wings or learn how to make fried chicken Popeyes could help her out.
