We had a great time at the lodge. The hosts, Janet, Fred, and BJ were great. They gave us great suggestions for things to do during our stay. The Northern Lights were amazing due to the lodges location away from light sources. The wake up service was perfect. Breakfast every morning was really good as well. We would definitely return here!

Just a delightful experience. The food was great, the folks who run the place are welcoming and fun, and the vibe was all around awesome. The excitement each night of hoping for a good view of Northern Lights was infectious. Janet stays up into the wee hours and will wake you if the lights get exciting.

It's close enough to town to be very easy to go in for a quick trip but far enough away that it's peaceful and there's not a lot of light pollution.

I might have to come back to Fairbanks just to come stay here again.

We had a delightful stay here. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The breakfasts were delicious. But it was the wonderful hosts that really made our stay. They woke us when the northern lights were out (at our request) and had lots of great advice to share about things to do in Fairbanks.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Fairbanks. Our hosts were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. They wok us up for the Northern Lights both nights and we say an incredible display from their balcony. The lodge can use some updating and our bathroom was very small but our stay was nice.

We recently took our first Arctic vacation in late October, traveling all the way from India to Fairbanks, and we were incredibly fortunate to find Alaska Grizzly Lodge. From the start, Fred's detailed emails guided us in planning every aspect of our Alaskan adventure. Even when we arrived late (or early ;))at 3:30 AM, Janet was there to warmly welcome us.

The lodge is beautifully situated away from city lights on the road to Chena Hot Springs, with convenient access to North Pole town as well.

Breakfast (Hot) were delicious, and the kitchen was always stocked with coffee, tea, and snacks to enjoy while waiting for the Northern Lights.

Janet was wonderful in helping us get comfortable with aurora viewing and even assisted us in capturing some incredible photos.

A huge thank you to Fred, Janet, and JB for making our trip so memorable!

We stayed 2 nights in early September and managed to see the Aurora thanks to the resilience of our host who came to wake us on their appearance. The Lodge is clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated and has a relaxed homely feel. The breakfast was also excellent especially the delicious home made quiche.

We had an absolutely amazing stay. The hosts are extremely nice and genuinely cared that we had a great time. We went there primarily for the purpose of viewing aurora and both the location and the hosts very perfect for that. The place is located ~10 miles away from Fairbanks and is in a dark enough place that you can see the aurora with naked eyes (given good magnetic activity). It’s really nice that we don’t have to go off to some very remote place only to drive back 2-3 hours late at night (some tour options offer to take you via a bus/car but that sounds very dicey and inconvenient) — instead here we can just stay in the comfort of the lodge and get out if aurora is flaring. The hosts have made hot drinks available for you if you’d like any time of the day — particularly nice during chilly nights. The hosts also knew a lot about auroras and also gave wake up calls during late night if the lights showed up.

The place did not feel like an impersonal hotel but the vibe was all very friendly as people would gather for breakfast in the morning and discuss plans for the day (we found this very useful).

I could write a lot more but suffice to say it was an excellent stay and I’d definitely come stay here again if I were to visit Fairbanks.

If you love a private setting in the woods, with a balcony to view the aurora or just enjoy peace and quiet then you will love this acommodation. Since we visited in September, we only had one brief viewing of the aurora, but the fall colors were beautiful. This location is great for Chena Hot Springs, Museums in Fairbanks, North Pole, and even Denali isn't too far to drive down for a day. The breakfasts were delicious and staff very pleasant. There is an aurora wakeup call if its out. We loved being able to sleep knowing that if it appeared, they would wake us. Next time, I would visit in October or March or early April to see aurora. Plan to stay at least 5 days for a better chance seeing the skies light up.
