Over the years I've been to music rehearsals, dances, club meetings, etc.. If you're interested in history, look up the story of two Finnish halls in Berkeley. It is great shape for being over 100! The only thing I dislike are the chairs... bring a pad to sit on.

A bit of Scandinavia in California. Such a warm environment with the old wooden floors and all the windows that fill the room with light. Charming and excellent for workshops.

Very pretty space, good dance floor. "Interesting" acoustics. Don't expect music to sound recognizable here because of the very pronounced echo and "funnel" effects caused by the architecture. In the middle of the floor, a single hand clap can ring and echo for seconds. In some spots you can clearly and loudly hear a whisper uttered in another spot on the floor.

Nice place to dance. A real challenge for a sound tech, or even an all-acoustic performance without sound reinforcement.

Parking is quite a challenge in this neighborhood of Berkeley.

But it's quite a beautiful hall, with a very nice floor. Such floors are getting harder and harder to find.

Dancing is good!

This space is great, it has wooden floors and high ceilings. It is not ADA accessible. There is a smallll parking lot and street parking on University Ave.

The hall doesn't set off my multiple chemical sensitivities, nor is it moldy or dusty.

What a nice venue. I've been there for concerts, dances, and community events. The bathrooms are unisex.
The floors are great for dancing.
The owners have kept the original look and feel of this historic building.

Such a good place for dance, at least a form of dance I do called contact improvisation. A teacher of the form called it a cross between wrestling and modern dance. This is an apt description. On Thursday nights there's a weekly jam - that's what it's called, a jam, sorry no peanut butter - and then once a month there's something called Underscore. It's an unusual form, so I would recommend classes before attending a jam. There's a class before the Thursday jam, so that's a good place to start if you wanted to find out more about contact improvisation.
