Sandwich was a little skimpy for the price, not much cheese, but overall good quality meat. Fries were drenched in cheese, to the point of almost too soggy. Had to try the famous chocolate cake shake. Super rich and everything you want in a chocolate shake!

I visited Portillo’s in Avondale on Saturday, April 19, 2025, and had a really disappointing experience. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich meal and a Polish sausage for my friend. When she opened her Polish sausage, we were absolutely disgusted to find that the hotdog bun was covered in mold. It was completely inedible and honestly made us lose our appetite.

There’s no excuse for serving food like that—especially something as obvious and preventable as moldy bread. It makes me question the cleanliness and quality control in the kitchen. We ended up tossing the food and leaving, and we won’t be coming back. Really unfortunate experience.

Great food and fun atmosphere. Kind of feels like an old diner.
I had the bacon burger this time which was amazing. But other menu options are just as good.

I want to shout out the manager on site! Our order was taken wrong over some regular hot dogs to some jumbo dogs. I presented the receipt to her and realized that we were charged for both regular and jumbo dogs. She instantly apologized for the mistake and proceeded to give us a refund on the regular hot dogs. After this, our order came out as planned with the sport peppers on the side and our cheese burger cut in half. We had added some cheese dip for our fries and it was amazing! I will definitely come back! Friendly staff and great service!

So yummy. I haven't eaten Portillo's Chicago-style hotdogs in over 40 years. This did not disappoint. The only issue here in Arizona will be finding quality tomatoes.

My grandson enjoys going to Portillo’s. The staff is so extremely friendly and kind. One older woman found out we were celebrating our grandson’s birthday and brought him a piece of cake.
I appreciate that there is a veggie dog too!

First time ever going to Portillos. Went through drive thru. Order incorrect. Went back through drive through as I am disabled and not able to go inside. Brad the manager helped me so they could fix the order. Honestly, it did seem like he couldn't care less. He fixed the order.
Got home and the beef seemed dry, not much flavor even after dipping in gravy. Chili dog was great. For the price not worth it.

They come from Chicago where I was born !!
The sandwich is 100% original from Chicago.
The soft bread, pepper chinies the juice !!!
Perfect and of coarse you have to have it wet dipped for the complete taste…
I sent my friends in Illinois pictures and told them I was in heaven!!!!!

Hot and sweet peppers
dipped wet to complete this incredible sandwich
