I enjoyed this place. It's small, so it doesn't take very long. You can get there via the free Ketchikan tourism shuttle. The staff was friendly and engaging. We ended up speaking with them as long as we were exploring the exhibition. The tour guides answered every question. One of them was a native indigenous Alaskan, so she was fascinating to listen to. They also directed us to the best places in town to see the real surviving craft work and meet the people that keep the artform alive. That took us to Crazy Wolf's, which was also well worth it.

If you are into semiotics and indigenous art forms, either as a sociological or anthropological matter, or just want to see some surviving images of a culture, this is a top tier place to check out.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It's worth the price of admission. They have actual hand made totem poles, tribal masks, native garments, canoes and tools all throughout the museum. Each piece has a detailed description box, so I learned a lot about the Native American and their customs.

Beautiful and a wonderful chance to experience the monuments that have been carved for years in their native culture. I recommend a tour that covers the history of the totems to help you understand the depth of their meaning. It will give you a greater respect of what you are viewing

$9 will get you into this museum and the Tongass Historical Museum, each is $6. Beautiful displays that explain how totems are made and what they represent, along with several on display and other related artifacts. A short walk from the salmon ladder and a very quiet and peaceful place.
